#SewTogether
Tieks has provided a good example of how companies can utilize its members to help the community. Kfir Gavrieli upon hearing on the scarcity of face masks started the #SewTogether campaign. The campaign challenged the community to make masks for essential service workers, specifically medical personnel. The campaign trended on social media and helped develop 400, 000 face masks. All those who participated in the campaign were given gift cards according to the number of masks they made.
Kfir heard of the shortage through a friend whose sister was a doctor. Kfir made efforts to avail face masks by first trying to purchase them with the aid of other entrepreneurs. His efforts bore no fruit and he had to look for another alternative. Kfir Gavrieli, therefore, bought sewing equipment in the Los Angeles facility and trained employees on how to sew masks.
Kfir then realized that he had a much larger community that could help with the initiative. He started 6the #SewTogether Campaign to make use of his community to sew masks. The Tieks website provides step by step instructions on how to make masks and in return gives individuals $50 dollar and $100 gift cards. Numerous individuals took part in the campaign and made thousands of masks.
