The life of Lady Gaga both on and off stage is inspirational and has left a significant legacy that has been borrowed by several individuals.
The life of Lady Gaga is a true reflection of the importance of proper parenting and the role of parents in the development of their children’s talents. Lady Gaga’s career began at the age of four years when her mother introduced her to piano playing. The mother to Lady Gaga had a primary goal of raising a cultural girl and playing the piano was one of the attempts that she tried on her daughter. The experience around the piano gave lady Gaga a way to learn music through listening rather than reading, which would be difficult for her (Horn, 2017). The pop music culture had not realized the star it lacked up to as late as 2008 when Lady Gaga actively entered the stage ready to cause a stir. Lady Gaga’s parents had come from low-class families and had grown to become supporters of self-motivation, and thus Lady Gaga had to be taught on the tips of survival. The efforts of Lady Gaga’s have eventually been noticed in the pop music field, and the genre owes the mother to the star all that the Lady Gaga has brought to the field.
The contribution of Lady Gaga in the entertainment sector cannot be overlooked. The slow but strategic development of Lady Gaga into her music career has been a motivation and has won a large group of followers to the singer. Before 2008, Lady Gaga had been serving in various music recording stations as a songwriter and had not written a single song as her own. Humility and patience were required for a fruitful engagement into music by the singer, officially known as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. Gaga later decided to test the waters in 2007 and 2008 when she wrote her first album, ‘The Fame.’ The response received from the fans was a great inspiration to Lady Gaga since the fans were positive on the criticism given concerning the music and Lady Gaga decided to give all she could for her music career. The entrance to the stage by Lady Gaga was not ending with the first album since the songwriter who had immediately become a singer was marketing her music internationally with the help of her friends, the Haus of Gaga. The bright future of Gaga’s music was predicted by the performance of her first singles, the ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Poker Face.’ Lady Gaga can be said to be a significant improvement that happened to pop music culture. On top to be a significant influence to pop music, Lady Gaga can be said to have brought a significant change to the world in terms of the advancements brought into the pop music field.
Lady Gaga has been said on several occasions to have changed the world. Pop music widely listens across the world. Changing pop music can, therefore, be termed as bringing a change to the world since listeners have entirely new music to listen to compared to the original music (Grzanka, Zeiders & Miles, 2016). Before the entrance of Lady Gaga into the pop stage, pop music was in one of its lowest eras. Pop music was in a stage were music dull, and the genre was slowly losing popularity due to the lack of rhythm and creation of adventure that would be enjoyed by the listeners. The coming of Lady Gaga brought about a change in the way of performance of pop music, right from the liveliness in the lyrics to the costumes involved in the singing of pop music. Also, pop music had lost one of the unique cultures: the self-mythologizing common in pioneer singers such as Michael Jackson. Lady Gaga brought back a culture where an artist was always an artist, and one would face contradiction while trying to differentiate an artist from their real personalities. Lady Gaga’s early life and the present life were all music, and no one would give a different perspective of the singer apart from being an artist. Lady Gaga used to give descriptions of her early life through most of her videos such as the ‘Born this Way’ although the definitions are given always led into a definition of an artist. Additionally, Lady Gaga has been actively involved in social issues apart from music.
The participation of Lady Gaga has brought a different perception by followers of pop music. Lady Gaga has not only been involved in music but also engaging in issues affecting the social lives of her fans. One of the most felt issues that Lady Gaga engaged in was the championing of the rights of the LGBTQ society (White et al. 2018). Lady Gaga was particularly vocal against several anti-gay campaigns that were slowly establishing roots in America. Lady Gaga’s stand was that individuals should be allowed to enjoy their right to sexuality without judgment and that members of the LGBTQ were supposed to be given equal opportunities as the other members of the society. The support of the LGBTQ group was one of the risks that Lady Gaga took at the expense of her large following who would develop a different perception towards Lady Gaga and would even terminate their following. Also, Lady Gaga had a personal interaction with her fans under the title of ‘Little Monsters’ where she would interact at personal levels with her fans (Deflem, 2017). On top of the personal interaction with her fans, Lady Gaga was able to unite her fans under the ‘Little Monsters’ group.
In sum, Lady Gaga has brought significant developments in pop music culture. Pop music has been under a revolution since the entrance of Lady Gaga in 2008. Lady Gaga has brought back the culture of self-mythologizing of pop music that had been lost after the death of Michael Jackson. Apart from engaging in pure music, Lady Gaga has been involved in social issues such as the championing for the rights of the LGBTQ group. Generally, Lady Gaga is an all-round artist who has brought significant developments in pop music.
