Leadership Projection
The success of leadership depends on the personal qualities and decisions an individual makes when faced with a challenge. Marjorie Eastman supports this concept by stating that the frontline is a decision point and informs the response of leaders whether to speak or remain quiet, to help or to hinder. In this connection, leaders must take personal responsibility for the actions they take while dealing with others in society. To succeed, leaders must be visionary and motivational. Failure to exercise these qualities exposes groups and teams to stagnation, thereby failing to achieve their collective goals.
Visionary leaders see beyond the people and create a picture of the future. Leaders must point the subjects to a possible future with some level of certainty. Leaders who fail to perform this role do not encourage the people to pursue higher goals. Leaders must inspire people that they can change their current situations by making individual decisions. A leader that focuses on future goals inspires the community to work towards the improvement of their circumstances. Leaders must also have motivational skills. The basis for Motivation must be a deep understanding of the situations of the subjects. The leaders must decipher the fears, and the hopes borne by his members to inspire hope for the future and manage their anxieties. A leader’s motivational role must, therefore, not stem from the realities existent in the minds of the people. Towards this end, a leader must perceive the motivations of the people and unlock them. Through such mechanisms, the leader galvanizes the collective strengths of the people and inspires them towards higher goals.
The leadership skill that I find easiest to implement is Motivation. I believe that every person has an immense potential to achieve their highest ambitions but are hindered by challenges in life. People experience low self-esteem and demoralization based on their life experiences. In this regard, I believe I have a duty, as a leader, to capture their motivations and urge them to achieve their goals. I have conviction that under the right leadership, individuals can achieve their dreams in life through motivational
Achieving a workable unity will be the most challenging role in my leadership. Agreement is critical for achieving collective goals but is marred by the divergent opinions and persuasions that people have. The part will be a challenge because I respect people’s personal views as a democratic right. Yet, I know failure to achieve a common understanding about issues diminishes the chances of attaining collective goals. I hope to work with people from diverse religious, cultural, and political persuasions who join organizations to achieve mutual goals. I Am however, hopeful that I will refine my leadership skills through experience and adopt mechanisms to enhance unity among groups.
