Love is taken to be the force of nature.
It is not easy to command or take away love. Just the way people cannot command the wind, stars, the moon, or the rain in the same way we cannot cost love or control it. The moon, principals, and the wind move according to the whims. Our ability to change the weather is minimal. In the same manner, we cannot control people that are in love with each other. In other words, love can be compared with fever, which comes and goes independently of the will, and it has got no age limit. When a person loves, then he or she becomes vulnerable. When you love, be assured that your heart will undoubtedly be broken. If one wants to keep the soul intact without breaks, then there is no need to love. This paper will discuss the subject of love as a feeling and chemically and biologically, as portrayed by Anastasia Toufexis.
Anastasia Toufexis explains the concept of love from the scientific point of view. She describes how the body stimulation works when a person is in love. When a person is in love, there is a way that the genes behave because the brain gets flooded with chemicals. At one point, Anastasia explains that love is not just a nonsense behavior or a strange feeling that one feels after using narcotic drugs. Anastasia uses three different forms of distinctions. In the first two, the merits act as a way of dehumanizing our emotions out of ourselves and the way we look at love and make the feelings personal in the end.
The last distinction she uses is that of building trust. Her first reaction is by calling people humanity and human species. To bring a picture of the way we look at ourselves like we do not possess any soul. Initially, Anastasia uses words like silly, irrational, or senseless, and these are not the words people expect to express love. These are words that are aimed at making a person look at love more differently. She later changes the terms and changes to falling in love to make love more personal. Love is a personal thing since it is a person who chooses who to fall in love with.
When a person meets the right person, they feel this kind of intense sensation, which makes them know that they have fallen in love. Therefore, love involves chemistry and biology, and it is not just a feeling like any other. This love can change a person just like a parent can change a baby. Many people love it like fog, which appears in the morning, and when there is the sun, it just disappears. According to Shakespeare, love looks with the mind and not with the eyes. This is true because when people fall in love, they cannot stop thinking about the people they love. People will do crazy things for a lover to the extent of killing themselves when the people they love fail to love them back.
When we love, we get to experience the same positive thoughts and experiences in the same way we feel when we like a person. More so, we do share a deep sense of commitment and care towards the people we love. It is paramount to note that love also causes feelings of sexual arousal and even attraction. Romantic love consists of two main types. Romantic love may be of the same sex or heterosexual; it involves passionate love. This is what people consider as being in love.
This kind involves the feeling of passion and the yearning of being with someone to the extent of desiring to be in their arms. Romantic love also contains compassionate love, which is complex, and it connects the intimacy feelings with commitment with deep attachment towards the partner one is in love with. Thus love is that emotion that keeps people attached and bonded and more so committed towards each other. From a psychological perspective, love also saves parents and their children together for a long time until they reach sexual maturity.
The childhood period is even longer for human beings than it is for the other species. The offspring depends on the adults for their survival and more so to develop those necessary skills for their survival. Therefore, the human species could not evolve without love. Thus love is also rooted in biology. According to the neurophysiological studies, romantic love is an indication that people that are in emotional love experience increased activation in their brains that are associated with pressure and rewards. The regions around the brain, when activated by love, are like when the cocaine starts them. These brain regions release chemicals like the vasopressin, oxytocin, and dopamine, which produces feelings of happiness, leading to excitement and sexual arousal.
It is incredible how these brain regions are not activated when one thinks about relationships that re not romantic like those of friends. For this reason, we get to understand that there is a big difference between liking and loving someone. Love has nothing to do with what a person is expecting or what one is expecting to give. It is an irresistible feeling that makes us attracted to the people we love and keep on thinking about them because we care and would want to get committed to pleasing such people.
In summary, as we have discussed earlier, love is that intense feeling of deep affection towards a person. Attachments go beyond senses since it affects the chemical functioning of our bodies. Some people take love as a simple emotion or putting others’ needs before us. Love is more than that. Love starts with something that attracts or grabs our attention. Love is founded on chemistry and our bodies’ biological functioning that originates from nature’s master strategy. Love is a vital force behind human survival and multiplication throughout the years. It acts as a chemical reaction that compels human beings to breed. More so, love requires sacrifice and commitment to keep it alive.
For this reason, love is not just a feeling. Many people chose love for different things. Some get attracted to others because of physical looking or character. Passion is uncontrollable, and those people in love can behave in any way to please their lovers, especially for the partners in romantic love. In other words, love is the vital force that keeps humans together and gives them the ability to live in harmony and multiply.
