Running a restaurant with excellent leadership skills can be one of the most fun and rewarding jobs. Being a manager in a restaurant requires someone with excellent knowledge in management skills and concepts such as Planning, Organizing, coordinating, controlling, and directing. Going through this course on Management Concepts and Practices has equipped us with excellent management skills which will make us be among the best managers in the market. Correct application of the concepts learnt in the course will lead to a successful business. For a restaurant to be a successful business, staff members are essential in running the business. Also, as a restaurant manager, it is crucial to focus on public relations, marketing and sales strategies. As a manager, my most significant role is to work with staff members closely to provide the most outstanding experience as possible.
During this time of lockdown, the restaurant being the most affected business requires the managers to come up with strategies to enable the business to run no matter the conditions. The current lockdown has made the business environment to rapidly change with most consumers spending most of their time at home and cooking for themselves. Also, the restaurant business has been brought down by the government regulations of prohibiting restaurants from offering dining room services. For a business to remain operational, all the government regulations should be adhered to, and the customers served in a more confined way.
As a manager of a restaurant, I have to ensure the business is sustainable to gather for my employees’ interest and to continue making profits. This can be achieved during this crisis by shifting the services we always offer to deliver food services to our customers in their homes. With the help of technology, the business will shift to e-commerce where the existing restaurant website is modified to enable customers’ order their food and they will be delivered to their homes. This also requires purchasing of at least two motorcycles with delivering dishes.
With the help of operation management skills, these activities are planned, organized, directed, and controlled to ensure they are done to satisfy customers’ needs. All the staff should be presentable and all the deliveries should be made within the shortest time possible. This is achieved by holding frequent meetings with the employees as the operations are going on to discuss the challenges and solutions to them to ensure the business operations are successful. Also, motivating them to love their job will lead to the best services to the consumers. Potential customers can be made aware of these services through posters and advertisements in social media.
In conclusion, customer’s satisfaction is essential to the success of any business. Thus all the foods ordered should reach them while hot. The importance of this is that the existing resources are utilized, and it leads to business expansion. Even after everything return to normal, the delivering services will continue and this will lead to more sales and general growth of the business. Thus, management concepts and practices play a major role in the success of this business.
