Marin Theatre Company terminates the Remainder of its 19/20 Season
California, Mill Valley, 30 April 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Marin Theater Company announced today that it had canceled its 19/20 season following a prolonged period of COVID-19 pandemic. Through its artistic director, Jasson Minadakis, the company discontinued its summer performances, citing the safety concerns of the artistes and the viewers as the fundamental reason for embracing such a difficult decision. Equally, the company had decided to lay off 50% of its resources to obtain the longest possible runway to come back in the fall stronger than ever.
The announcement came as a surprise to the viewers and followers of the company’s performances, especially those who had already subscribed and booked tickets for thrilling summer shows. Instead of vanishing without the notification of the viewers, Minadakis wanted every client to understand that that the shows would not be aired due to safety concerns amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The show, which is usually aired from Mill Valley, California, would not be live-broadcasted as it is typically the case. However, the viewers and followers could still follow the company’s events through social media platforms such as Facebook and Tweeter. Minadakis also urged well-wishers and selfless clients to donate to the company to facilitate their comeback, possibly in fall.
According to Minadakis, it was not the wish o the company to suspend its performance owing to the responsibility that it has towards its clients. However, he noted that the prevailing circumstances caused by the coronavirus crisis could not allow them to risk their lives as well as those of their clients. He, nonetheless, assured viewers of better and more exceptional performances from excellent American actors and play writers when they resume their activities.
