Part 1
During the class, I learned different units of mathematics, including; mathematics of finance, linear and exponential functions, number systems, elementary number theory, graph theory, numerical methods, and algorithms, as well as voting and apportionment theory. In the first unit, I explored mathematical finance to be dealing with vital financial securities and instruments, including; miscellaneous exotic securities, mortgages, annuities, bonds, puts, calls, options, and stocks. In the second unit on linear and exponential functions, I learned on solving homogeneous solutions to any linear ordinary differential equation with constant coefficients can be written as the sum of exponential functions. Elsewhere, on the numbers system unit, I learned on the classification of all the numbers that are possible in this universe (imaginary numbers too). In unit IV, I explored the elementary number theory that employs elementary methods such as high school algebra, geometry, and arithmetic in solving rational or integer equations. On the other hand, I learned about the graph theory to be a mathematical methodology of connecting things as well as numbers when solving an equation. We moved to numerical methods and algorithms where I studied the kind of part where i will eventually get better once solve enough questions. Practice a lot of questions, and that will be enough. The last unit we studied was Voting and Apportionment Theory that entirely devoted its mathematics concept to problems including statistics, probability, and estimation in relation to elections.
Part 2
Amongst the units, I found numerical methods and algorithms to be my favorite since once you understand that, you will never forget the basics to solve questions. This goes not only for numerical methods but for any formula based questions. However, the most difficult for me was the mathematics of finance since it involves many types of interest and many financial aspects. Despite being a building block of knowledge, it is somehow difficult to learn how to create and analyze trading strategies by building portfolios consisting of such instruments.
