Medical insurance cover is considered as one of the main health asset one can brag about. Therefore, by giving out health insurance cover to the less fortunate members of the society is one of the health policies which am advocating for. Following high cost of treatment in the region thus compared to the economic status of the residents who are living in extreme poverty, they cater for the high treatment cost ( Fang, Eggleston, Hanson & Wu, 2019). I, therefore, advocate for the policy of the provision of medical insurance cover to less fortunate members of the society. The policy am advocating for is aimed at improving health standards of less wealthy or the poor households as they cannot afford the cost rising medication. I, therefore, advocate for the health policy based on the following facts.
Health standard of the residents who are living out of hand
to mouth, that is the poor within the country whom cannot cater for the rising medication
cost will have access medical services whenever they are sick as the medical
cover will cater for their medical bill thus only when the policy is considered.
Following the annual medical report from the local medical centers, it is
evidenced that many people prefers traditional doctors who will charge them
less as to health care facilities whenever they fall sick due to high cost
charged by the public hospitals. To minimize such cases, I therefore call upon the
government through the ministry of health to consider this particular health policy
so as to improve the living standards of its citizens and to control the early
deaths which have been recorded in the community due to the high cost of
treatment. By considering such policy, the low income earners in the community will
therefore choose to seek medical services whenever they are not feeling well rather
than visiting their traditional doctors due to the reduced cost of medication
in hospitals through medical insurance cover (Fujii & Inakura, 2019).
Due to absence of medical insurance cover, it has
been noted with concern that most of the households have been using more of
their wealth for medication, which have resulted to increased poverty in the community
as they are left financially unstable. The medication cost in both public and private
hospitals within the country has gone high to an extent where low income and
jobless members of the society cannot afford. The absence of such medical cover
to the marginalized members of the community has costed most the families in
the country their wealth and other valuable resources in exchange for medication
(Gross, 2019). Complains from the members of the society has been forwarded to
most of the community based healthcare centers as they are appealing to the government to avail medical insurance
cover to them in order to cut down the increasing cost of treatment which they struggle
to cater for.
The policy is expected to increase access to medication for
the people living in poverty and the low income earners. With consideration of
the policy, medical access will be availed to the members of the community as they
will be able to visit health centers of their choice whenever they fall sick.
The effectiveness of the policy qill
help to control the death rate within the society which has been resulted by lack of access to better medical services on basis of their financial status as they could
not afford the cost of medication (Jing, et al., 2017). Community based health facilities
have recorded high number of deaths within the community which has been
resulted by lack of medical cover to enable them seek better medical services
from more developed health care centers.
The rate at which poor individuals within the society are losing their lives due to a lack of resources to finance their medical bills has been alarming hence the urgency for this policy. Deaths caused by lack of proper medical access within the community has led to agony to most of the families as they grieve for their loved ones. I Therefore call for urgency of the policy by the health officials to save lives and to reduce suffering within the families caused by overspending on medical bills; hence they cannot afford to provide basic needs for their families (Ye, Wu & Zhang, 2017).
On the issue of health equity, the health policy will ensure
fairness in health services delivery in the country regardless of the socio- economic
status (Pan, Tian, Zhou & Han, 2016). Before the policy of provision of medical
insurance cover, the issue of equity in health department has been compromised by
medical centers as they prioritize the rich while offering medical services. Based
on their financial status, it is believed that only the rich can afford to pay for
the high medical cost therefore they are prioritized unlike the marginalized
members of the society. In most cases, wealthy members of the society and
government employees are the ones who have bought the medical insurance cover as
they can comfortable pay the premiums charged by such companies unlike the poor
nd he jobless in the society who only struggles to feed themselves. With the consideration
of the policy equity in health sector will be enhanced (Zhao, Jia & Zhao,
2017).
The health policy of medical insurance cover to the less fortunate members of society qill enhance health status and living standards of the people in country regardless of their financial positions as it qill cover up for the medication bills for the citizens of the country. the government qill stand to gain from the policy following increased investment rate and self-employment cases within the country as the money set aside by the household for medication qill be channeled to more resourceful activities like business (Sheng, et al., 2017). Following the analysis done on the proposed policy thus providing medical insurance coverage to less fortunate members of the society, the projected economic gain from the plan qill increase the country’s gross domestic production thereby increasing money supply in the economy due to extra income, which the citizens saved to cater to their medical expenses.
Conclusion
The policy will not only impact the healthy being of the people but
also contribute to the economic development thus following the justifications
provided in the context above, I, therefore, call upon the whole medical team
to consider the health policy, which will not only impact the healthy being of
the people but also contribute to the economic development.
