Introduction
Microsoft is best performing Software Company in the world whereby it was founded by Bill Gate and Paul Allen in 1975. Its mission is to make sure that everyone would access computer in work and at home through the use of its Microsoft software. The Microsoft company has become among the top five best performing company all over the world whereby it has expanded through the selling of its product over it several years. In the past year, Microsoft develops an operating system for the user computer. The company hold another additional advantage whereby it sold its software to other manufactures whereby it becomes more successful. In their first marketing, they used advertising strategy where they communicated their range of products to the potential customers. The first branded their products under Microsoft. Their initial products in the market include the following; DOS to excel and windows.
Later in 1986, windows operating system and Microsoft office picked up and the company is in a position to go to the public successfully. In 1990, the company launches the Windows 3.0 and other applications such as file manager and program manager that are still in use up to date. In this era, Microsoft Company does well since it was in a position to sell more than 10 million copies of the software. The window 3.0 is the first software to be installed in most of the PC hence being another feature that helps the company to be successful and outdo other companies in this industry.
Later the company wins the market trust by informing its prospective customers that their software products should be updated more often. The company spent a lot in the advertisement of their product where they use magazines to promote their products and creating awareness of the product. They also use slogans that lead to an increasing rate of the sell of their products. The slogan used in 1998 was ‘where do you want to go today’ which promoted both the products and the company as the source of empowerment at the individual level and all the consumers.
In 1995, the company is fighting for its place in the market for internet explorer and the same year, it launches its internet explorer. After 5 years the company is doing well in the Netscape market with it comes up with the following; bundled Internet Explorer with its Office product, which included Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Later the company partners with AOL which opens which lead to increase of their customers in overnights. They also promote their products by trying to make the internet products available to everyone by cutting its cost to almost being free. But it’s so unfortunate to the company where it suffers in 2002 where the Netscape falls.
Later the company starts to suffer since its marketing strategy are perceived as if the company is trying to monopolizing the industry. Despite these challenges the company did not give up but still come up with new products in the market such as; widows 2000 and windows XPs and Xbox hence improving their income.
The company later fails by not continuously releasing new products in the market where the customers also were waiting for the new offer in the market. At this time Apple company takes advantage by coming up with new products that are friendly to the consumers. Where they come up with new marketing strategies that overturn the market. They entitled their marketing campaign as ‘get a mac’ that attracts most of the consumers of the Microsoft products where they become their customers. But later Microsoft starts to create back its image and win its customers back by launching new products.
Conclusion
In conclusion, though proper marketing strategies that they launched and the new products they are successful. It’s the company with the wide large and in a position to reach most of the customers. Its products are the ones which are mostly consumed by most of the people.
