Models of Power and Authority.
The political philosophy of pluralism explains that different people with a difference in interest, lifestyle, and beliefs can interact and coexist peacefully and enjoy the freedom of participating in the process of governing. Pluralism recognizes and supports that people with several competing interests shall be allowed to share power. In the United States, we find citizens are allowed to take part in the government functions in various ways. This government has various levels of government and branches to which any citizen might approach. This paper focuses on explaining how the models of power and authority are practiced in the United States government.
The United States is a republic that comprises of about 50 states with many territories and districts. Its government is so unique when compared to so many government systems of different states and countries. Many states tend to shape up their government as per the United States government standards (Connolly, 2017). Philosophies revolve around ensuring that the people are psychologically, economically, and politically independent. Thus, the government leads the state in a way that every citizen has the right to participate in legislation. The United States is civilized in that power and authority are distributed to all the citizens at various levels. Therefore, the citizens feel like part of the governing power in the states.
Trump believed in a democratic government. A stable government is one that will represent the people entirely. In the construction of the senate and the House of Representatives, it was believed that this would give the people legal and adequate representation that they needed and deemed necessary. This form of government is similar to Marx’s ideology, where we find him advocating for the members of the state are left to exercise the power of ruling. Still, through a system of representatives and electro, systems are made robust and transparent. Trump is also a leader who believes in the education of the citizens. He believes that an ignorant person contributes significantly to his demise. For any liberation to happen, people have to be educated on their rights. They must also understand what and why they are fighting for their liberation (Dillon, 2020). The United Nations Development Programme has made education a priority, and it is a Standard Development Goal. (SDG) number four states that by 2030, nations should guarantee that all women and men will have direct access to affordable and quality education, up to the university level.
Trump advocated for the equality of the people. He believes that ‘Slavery is the daughter of darkness.’ Nelson Mandela is remembered for his philosophy that every country should be judged by how it treats its lowest citizens, and not its highest ones. It is on the same foundation that Trump fought for the equality of all and was against slavery. Modern-day slavery is witnessed in many countries, with the rich seen as exploiting the poor (Domhoff, 2017). Such tendencies need to be eliminated globally. Many states tend to shape up their government as per the United States government standards. Philosophies revolve around ensuring that the people are psychologically, economically, and politically independent. Thus, Trump leads the state in a way that every citizen is given a chance and time to take part in making laws in the government. Corruption in courts has seen the rich buy their ways out of the courts of justice, leaving the poor and the vulnerable with no justice. This is unacceptable as constitutions make every citizen equal under the law.
Trump was against countries adopting laws set by their colonizers. Comparing the relationship between Spain and America shows how the Spaniards oppressed the Americans and reduced them to nothing more than producers and manufacturers and were not allowed to compete with them in trade. He advocated for the total independence of countries. Modern forms of colonialism are experienced in the form that developing countries cannot trade equally with the already developed countries. Harsh trading conditions are not put in place to help them. Developing and underdeveloped countries are often in situations where they are trying to repay their debts instead of using their revenues to develop their nations. Trump is a leader who advocates for inclusivity. All citizens should enjoy the sovereignty of the countries that they are born in. He says that they were disputing with the natives for a sense of belonging and had a hard time surviving in their own country of birth. He also has a keen interest in a sound system of justice that is in charge of the responsibility of providing justice to the members of the state (Therborn, 2016). it is evident from where we find him say that the country must have a republican magistrate who would still be an individual selected from the society member. The magistrate would be charged with the responsibility of adherence to the state members administering justice by issuing a judgment per the law of the land. Therefore, he insists that the system of justice must be free and independent and exercise all its functions in freedom and fairness to the members of the state.
In conclusion, we can say that he insists the government systems be made much secure and allow the state members to enjoy their freedom in the right manner. He also says that the power balance is drawn up in a manner that is permanent and incapable of decay since no form of government that is as week as the democratic kind of government. Hence, it means that its systems should be built in a strong foundation, its frameworks should be made firm, and all its institutions examined to determine how stable they would be. He, therefore, said that unless all this were done stably and carefully, all the state members would be ungovernable, and without social order, the three would have no peace, happiness, or justice. Many states tend to shape up their government as per the United States government standards. Philosophies revolve around ensuring that the people are psychologically, economically, and politically independent. Therefore, in other words, meaning he leads the state in a way that every citizen has a chance and time to take part in the making laws in the government.
