Modernity as Seen in The Liberty of the People

In the current democratic world, most individuals tend to support modernity and it is their wish that those who are against modernity will join them at some point. From ancient times human being wanted to have a world where they could express themselves without feeling oppressed by preset rules. The traditional methods of ruling meant that individuals had to obey certain preset laws without questioning the authority. Modernity through the cultural transformations led to the establishment of individual liberties and the rise of democracy just as it is the nature of people to live as per their values. Artwork like paintings played a critical role in passing the message during ancient times to pass a certain message. Being rebellious was termed as modernity and it saw Delacroix challenge the traditional paintings such as Greece on the Ruins of Missolonghi and Liberty Leading the People (Frazer, 27). With the radicalism of some groups, democracy can lose legitimacy and the problem would be to understand whether the people would want to go to old ways or stick with the newfound means of living. This paper shall, therefore, seek to address the issue of modernity in France as seen in the liberty of the people.
