Movies can be thrilling and enjoyable to watch, especially if one understands events taking place in the movie. It may turn out that watching a movie for the first time may never be interesting at all owing to some reasons. On the contrary, viewing the same movie the second time can lead to liking and appreciating it. This paper serves to provide more explanation about the movie Joker and why viewers should not conclude hurriedly without understanding what the film is all about and why they should get what it for better understanding.

Charles Manson is depicted as a monster because he is a leader of a cult that murders, rapes, and tortures. However, instead of thinking that this movie promotes violence and disliking it, you will later realize that you need to have sympathy for Charles. The source of his traits acquired from adults who during his young age were criminals and sometimes engaged him in criminal activities, and he learned from their examples. It needs a viewer to watch this film more times to like it. One does not need to dislike Manson or justify his deeds or glorify him.

Many characteristics of Manson are depicted in the film as dishonest, stalking, selfish, and cruel to his victims. He murders people with violence that made his victims beg and cry helplessly. He creates bloody scenes, and people may glorify and admire his acts. After all, he does not care; his main intention is to cause suffering and pain to everyone surrounding him. A normal person cannot engage in such acts, and his deeds should not be glamorous to a sane person. It is certain that Manson is not in his right mind, and therefore, watching such a movie for the first time without a proper understanding of the background information of Manson can lead to a wrong conclusion, either liking or disliking the film.

Accusations can made about Joker that the villain murderer accorded sympathy, and others can think that the acts shown make psychosis nice, but it is the opposite. Everyone can talk about a villain they love and explain characteristics they love about them, but by watching Joker, one may feel that it has crossed a boundary. While watching, Joker appears unsympathetic, and his victims are sympathetic as depicted by the background to understand, viewers must watch it twice or even more.

Viewers may hurriedly conclude that the homicidal clown depicted sympathetically. They may conclude that the movie presents the villain’s slide to psychosis due to neglect and abuse by society, which may not be the case. It will be a mistake to conclude that the film sympathizes with violence and bad behaviors.

While watching this film, someone may imagine that it can make youths be violent and idealize the Joker. It will be crazy to have that belief by holding this film accountable because its better understanding is necessary for its interpretation. The main character is not glorified as one may imagine, but rather the situation he finds himself due to social influences.

In conclusion, watching a movie is not enough, but watching and understanding the flow of events. It will be wrong to dislike or like a movie without basic knowledge about it. Therefore, it calls for comprehension before making any conclusion. Besides, careful interpretive analysis is crucial in appreciating a given movie.
