My best friend
For years now, my friend Michael has essentially been a part of me, making him my best friend of all time. While I have a considerable number of friends, Mike, as I often call him, stands out because he has consistently been there for me during great and tough times. It is not always common to find supportive friends during crisis times, which is why some people argue that true friendship is seen in moments of trouble. Mike is a great person who, apart from being there for me, teaches me new things every day, especially important life lessons that keep me going.
I recall one time when I fell ill and could not attend a few classes for two days, and Mike came to the hospital to check on me each of the two days in the evening after school. Despite having my parent’s support, Mike’s presence made me feel like I was still in school and that I was only missing out a little. Besides, he could brief me on the lessons taught and encourage me that I would easily catch up with the rest of the students. At that moment, I understood the true meaning of emotional support from Mike.
Our friendship years have yielded many benefits for each other, but I feel Mike has been fundamental in nurturing me to become a better man. Ideally, friends help people shape their self-esteem resulting in more confidence to face life challenges (Cuncic, A. 2020, 1). In Mike, I found a piece of jewel that has made me a self-confident and focused individual driven by the zeal for success. Certainly, Mike is an important person in my life, and I would love to keep our friendship to my last breath.
