My business plan is defined by my vision, mission, personal experiences
Project 3 Outline
Business plans depict an individual’s perspectives of business, and the difference they would bring to the market based on several factors. The major factors and determinants are personal visions, missions, and market study. Additionally, previous experiences play a significant role in how one plans to operate their business in the future and the objectives in any kind of industry. My business plan is defined by my vision, mission, personal experiences, as well as my personal values.
Vision and Opportunity
My personal vision is to be a person that adds value to my life and that of those around me in every sphere of life. My mission statement is to change people’s lives by being an inspiration, teaching, and learning from others to be the best version of myself. My personal values that I abide by in my career include self-discipline, self-respect, honesty, integrity, appreciation, and drawing value from the efforts I put in my work. When we use our values to make decisions, we make a deliberate choice to focus on what is important to us. Therefore, these values are important to me because they guide me in my decision-making, and in shaping the future that I want to experience since my decisions reflect my values.
The first goal that I will be working on after gaining my bachelor’s degree will be to pursue an additional career-focused training and certification in an area that aligns my bachelor’s profession. I choose this because I believe it will improve my skills and knowledge in my career, as well as open better opportunities for me in the future. Another goal I would like to achieve is starting a business that provides solutions to people’s problems. The reason as to why I choose this goal is partly because I have passion for finding solutions for people, and partly because I could use my passion to earn a living as well. Thirdly, I aim to explore different areas and opportunities in my area of expertise and any other profession I may add to it. I choose this goal so that I can expand my level of diversity, to expand my knowledge of the field, and to be able to adjust my resourcefulness in my workplace.
The three questions I will refer to when making my choices are:
- Is the choice in line with my values and vision?
- How significant is the decision on the broader view and scheme of things?
- What will be the result of making the decision, and what would I lose if I do not make a particular choice?
In the current job market, there are different job opportunities for IT students. For example, the need for the application of technology in business is becoming more crucial by day. Globalization is increasingly creating the need to connect different business operations, hence the rising need for computer support specialists (Kopnina & Blewitt, 2018). The job opportunity involves maintaining computer networks and fixing any arising computer issues such as diagnostic issues. Another example is system analyst opportunities presented by the current state of the market owing to the rising rate of Startup companies (Paik & Woo, 2013). System analysis involves the information processing and security needs of a company and laying down the appropriate scheme for the initial network of starting companies. Thirdly, there are immense opportunities in website maintenance. According to Briffaut (2015), websites are becoming the basis of business operations in the 21st century, as most businesses and transactions are conducted online. Therefore, this aspect presents a significant market opportunity for IT students.
The aforementioned examples align with the goals I discussed. For instance, opportunities for maintaining computer networks for businesses will allow me to interact with other business owners and see available market opportunities to employ my services, hence the provision of the solution and business venture at the same time. They also provide me with the opportunity to grow in terms of experience, diversity, and networking with people in different professions. Through these opportunities, I can make a difference in my career and the industry at large by venturing into different innovative ways of providing solutions to adamant IT issues in business operations.
Marketing and Implementation Strategy
My marketing positioning statement is: For high-level operations commercial organizations looking for efficient and reliable IT solutions, in both urban and semi-urban set-ups, we provide instant access to a proficient computer and network solutions. Our services emphasize technological research and advancement and take an innovative approach to create the best solutions for your businesses as we value high standards.
The value I offer to an employer and the society is that I provide network management, cyber-security consultation, network instalment, and software and hardware diagnosis. These skills and benefit me in maintaining computer network systems to avoid security breaches, to enhance stability to the network of the business, and consequently the stability of online operations as a result of limited diagnostic issues. What makes me different from other IT graduates is that I have immense and relevant experience working for a portfolio of 3 companies in the past three years as an intern. I bring a positive attitude to work as I understand it is business, and my services are essential to you as much as they benefit me. Besides, I am more focused on ensuring the success of the community around me, including business entities. I am passionate about innovation; hence the services I provide are high-standard and based on technological excellence.
Risk Mitigation
I define success by how close and effective one’s actual efforts and input is as compared to the expected effect. The SWOT analysis helped me to find that I may face certain risks. The first risk is competition from other service providers. To address this risk, I will uphold high standards of work to ensure I deliver quality work to my employers to attain their confidence and continuous contract. Another risk is telecommunication regulations and tariffs, for instance, infrastructure sharing and sanctions, which could threaten my business operations. I plan to reduce this risk by being a forefront champion in influencing government policies that relate to information technology, through participating actively in government and business forums that address relevant policies. Finally, I have identified risks associated with the rapid changes in technological operations and market developments that can overtake the effectiveness of my equipment and operation. My plan to limit this risk involves consistent research on the most updated tools and utilities in technology and the industry so that I am always informed and able to make relevant adjustments.
A time when I experienced failure was when I could not deliver an impromptu IT class fieldwork project because of my inadequate preparation. What I learnt from his failure is the need to always be apt and ready for any forms of adjustments regarding the profession since opportunities can present themselves at any time. I can apply this by assembling the right equipment and having a standby assisting team whenever work opportunity calls.
Ethics
The ethical issues I may face in my field as an IT specialist include non-violation of property rights issues, legal regulations within which I should operate, data security ethics with regard to hacking and sale of important data, and professional ethics, which dictate the scope of my work and responsibilities. In my personal and professional life, I will uphold integrity, excellence, and confidentiality of information. These principles will help me uphold and acquire trust with my employers and anybody I work for, and make choices that align my goals of integrity.
I have selected my IT professor because I see the passion that he holds for the profession, and I would love to be as passionate and consistent. I select my second mentor to be Bill gates because of the immense knowledge that he possesses regarding technology and business. I would wish to run large-scale operations from ground level as he did. To sum up, my business plan is vision, mission, experiences, and desire for solutions.
