My Most Embarrassing Moments

Everyone has gone through a moment of embarrassment at one point or another. It is that period when you wish the ground to open and swallow you alive. The fear and distress felt during that moment, which may only last a few seconds or minutes and feel like a clock has stopped ticking. I will share this experience and the one I encountered during an English lesson.

I vividly remember when I experienced the most embarrassing moment. I was in 8th grade, and it was during the school break. The moment the bell rang for break, I ran to the washroom because I had been regulating my urges since the lesson began. I did not want to miss an experience because the class covered that morning was to incorporate techniques of answering questions for the forthcoming examination.

Without knowing, I had run to the boy’s washroom. The extensive regulation and an upset stomach caused by one glass of milk in the morning made me rumble and cry in what I believed in was the privacy of the compartment. I believed I heard laughing outside and wondered why the laughing appeared strangely near. A few minutes later, I walked out of the bay and confirmed my fear that I had entered the boys’ washroom. To make matters worse, the few boys standing outside did not even go away when I moved out. Rather they looked down at me; only they returned quickly. Fears of fears, I had forgotten to adjust my skirt well! No beetroot could parallel the color of my face at this moment!

The news of my trouble circulated like bush fire all over the school. I was the topic of discussion in school. I felt like I could either walk around feeling continuously awkward and embarrassed, or I could reverse the situation round, certainly even to my advantage. I recalled my father’s words that “if you cannot beat them, join them.” Thus, I decided to make fun of myself to giggle at myself too. That seemed to work well. Everyone got tired after some time after that.

It was truly an educative experience for me. I have realized that when people laugh at you, you should join them. You must not hate and take yourself seriously. Learn to view yourself through the lenses of other people, and you will note that most of the time when they make fun and giggle at you, they only want to have some fun. They do not have any negative implications. If you can make people laugh and happy, it’s like bringing brightness into their lives, so as the saying that, “those who bring brightness to the lives of others cannot hide it from themselves.”

The second event I would love to share with you at the most embarrassing moment in my life is related to the classroom. Indeed, life is full of activities. Some are positive, and others you do not wish to recall. However, most of them stick in our memories. At times, it is good not to reflect on what robs our happiness, as we will be happy to recall these experiences, will others will torment us. Since God Has only granted us life, there is no reason we should not be satisfied. The most disturbing experience in my life is when I do not have a textbook. I committed a lot of my time that evening studying. When I was in the classroom, my English teacher asked all the learners to come up with a textbook, and when the teachers walked in, all students took their books out. I tried to search in my bag, but I realized that I had forgotten the textbook at home.

Everyone in the class took the textbook, and I was the only one which was odd, I had no book to show. The subject teacher moved closer to me, where is your textbook? I replied to him that I was late for school, and thus I forgot the book. She told me the only reason I left the textbook at home is that I escort other students to school and that I had no intention of attending the lesson. It was an embarrassing experience for me; I felt while I was swallowing. The entire class broke the silence with laughter. I do not think we can avoid such moments in life. In my part, all that effort I had committed in the evening was not positively received. Thus they were overpowering. Some people state that they can prevent some things from happening, but I do not subscribe to that notion.

Everyone encounters a difficult time in his or her life. Similarly, I experienced such a moment. It is easy to recall an embarrassing experience; in most instances makes us laugh, but in my life, these two awkward instances left with me good lessons.
