My Short Story

Michael was seventeen years old when he experienced a unique dream where he met the “power” gods. In this particular Michael’s dream, two powerful gods promised to offer him extraordinary powers, and in exchange, he had to do good deeds and bring good in the society. Michael was also made to promise that he would never tell anyone about his powers, and failure to keep the promise would make him lose these powers. Michael agreed, and he was gifted with the abilities to become invisible, as well as run with extremely high speeds. Michael had to wish for these abilities, and the “power” gods would accord him his wishes. The following morning, Michael woke up and thought about the dream, but he dismissed it, thinking it was just the usual dreams he experienced. As a routine, Michael prepared himself for school, took breakfast, said goodbye to his parents, and ran out heading for school.

A few meters from his home, Michael remembered the dream and wished to run at high speeds. Interestingly, Michael always jogged his way to school because it was not a long distance from his home, and it took him fifteen minutes to reach school. However, on this particular morning, he was shocked to discover that he had taken only two minutes to reach school because he ran extremely fast. He was shocked, although he remembered the dream, he had last night and his wishes to run fast. Michael did not concentrate much on it, and he continued with his day at school without thinking about it. After school, he made a wish to ran fast, and within two minutes, he was outside his home. It is then that he discovered that indeed the “power” gods had gifted him with the three extraordinary abilities.

That evening after school, Michael did his homework and then decided to take a nap since he had not slept well the previous night. During this nap, the “power” gods appeared to him and told him that there was a special assignment that he was to undertake that night, whereby he was required to do good to his society and save his village residents. He was told that he would receive further instructions at night after sleeping. He took his supper together with his family members and excused himself to sleep early, claiming that he was feeling tired. Michael went straight to bed, slept for some minutes, and the “power” gods appeared to him. He was instructed that his assignment was to run to the shopping mall in his town village and rescue people that had been held, hostage. Michael slowly crept out of his room and went outside his home without anybody noticing. He then wished for his running ability, and within three minutes, he was outside the shopping mall.

At the shopping mall, he saw many people, including news reporters and the police that had surrounded the building. He learned that criminals had held twenty people as hostages in the mall, demanding ransom worth millions of dollars. Michael then wished for his ability to become invisible, and it happened instantly. He walked straight into the mall and sprayed the criminals with a sleeping drug he had taken from a chemist in the mall. Within five minutes, all the criminals were deeply asleep, and Michael opened the door for the hostages so that they could be free. The police then arrested the criminals, and the hostages were free. Michael ran back to his home and tiptoed to his room slowly. He then slept, and the “power” gods were pleased with him for doing good and saving society. The following morning, which was on a Saturday and Michael was not going to school, he and his family members watched the news where they were shocked about the mall criminals and the mysterious savor that rescued the hostages. Michael did not say anything because he knew what had happened that night.
