Nannette Croce supports the Columbus Day controversy
From the argument, Nannette Croce supports the Columbus Day controversy. She has built various discussions as to why this day should be honoured. Nannette says that she is not apologizing for the Columbus or on what he committed but to what he symbolizes to the Italian-American community. Also, she argues that the Columbus Day celebrations were started in the early days when various communities were arriving in the United States. During these times, the Italian-American community was struggling with a period of poverty, ridicule, and contempt before taking their place within the dominant culture of the United States. Nannette states that American Indians and the Native American Heritage deserve a national holiday honouring their heroes; thus, they should also be allowed to celebrate Columbus Day in respect of their heroes.
In my view, I support the Columbus Day celebration. The Columbus Day is always celebrated to remember the landing of Christopher Columbus on October 12, 1492, in the new world. His exploitation was financed by King Ferdinand and the Queen Isabella of Spain. Over the years, the Italian Americans started celebrating his achievement. Christopher arrival leads to a new world in the United States since the European settlement in the Americas facilitated the demise of the history and culture of the indigenous people. As a result of this, the Columbus Day holiday is termed controversial. Therefore, from this, I firmly believe that Italian-American has the rights to celebrate the Columbus day. The day is essential since Christopher’s arrival in America marked the start of a new world in the country. Also, it was a great achievement that needs to be honoured in America. Columbus needs to celebrate this day to mark its origin in America.
Legends of broad, ape-like creatures can be located all over the world. Since the 1950s, the United States had their version of this, which was the Bigfoot. Many believe that Bigfoot is hairy, upright walking, an ape-like animals that live in the wilderness and they leave footprints whenever they walk. Other depictions state that Bigfoot is a missing link between human beings and ancestors of the great apes. The creature is traced back in North America woods where someone more of having fun with their new camera captured something strange. Decades later, many individuals have developed a documentary on whether the Bigfoot is real or fake. The film is one of the most analyzed pieces of film in American history.
Individuals have a different view on the Bigfoot. Some of the citizens believe in it while others do not think so on its existence. Some people see these cryptothominids as a symbol of pure freedom. To put that significant effort in searching for the Bigfoot in the California forest is the real test of that freedom. They believe that when trying to search for the creature, you will become more attuned to nature. These individuals state that as much as there are strange places in America, then Bigfoot will possibly remain to be the most ardent proponents, and it cannot be disproved.
Other individuals believe that Bigfoot was a way of seeking attention from the public. They state that the video is one of the so many fake videos. The problem has grown worse with the presence of social media where viral hoaxes gain a lot of views. These persons further believe that there is no need to focus on this film and states that technology has ruined the old cryptozoology. In my opinion, I tend to think that Bigfoot exists as much there are many wild places in America then the Bigfoot will remain to be a representative of these places disapproved.
It all began as a challenge from a young president of the United States. The president challenged the nation to land a man on the moon. The task was not easy but hard; the president believed that since the mission was hard, then they could accomplish it. Barely seven years of challenge Neil Armstrong and his team backed down a ladder and landed into the moon surface.
There were a lot of fictions on this Apollo mission. Many believed that the soil of the moon was extremely clingy and hard to brush off. The scientists were eagerly waiting to investigate what the crew smelled. The team confessed that the soil had a glowing smile, but ironically when the sample brought on earth was opened, the smell had already gone. From this many believed that the smile of the moon remained in the moon.
It was strange on how NASA was willing to send a human to a place where no human has ever stepped. The NASA and the Geological survey went as far as creating a landscape that matched part of the moon’s surface to help the astronauts practice on how to land and walk in the low gravity atmosphere of the moon. The astronauts practised on walking on a tilted wall since they believed practice marks perfect. Various activists protested against the Apollo 11 mission since the nation was using billions to the task while it could not feed its citizens. Ironically the president who championed the project was assassinated before he could see the Apollo mission achieve his goal. Despite the many contradicting information and criticism of the task, the mission was of high achievement.
