Narrative Essay about my experienced in this class
George Orwell once stated that, “If people cannot write well, they cannot think well, and if they cannot think well, others will do their thinking for them.” This quote indeed describes the kind of challenges that I faced before joining this class. At the start of the course, I had many grammatical errors, but as I come to the end of the semester, I have learned a lot about the English language. Some of the areas that I have improved include is the correct use of a comma, coordinating conjunctions, transitional phrases, subject-verb agreement, and how to punctuate sentences correctly. The course has effectively taught me how to use commas and coordinating conjunctions when combining two or more sentences together and make strong logical sentences. Thus, the class has significantly improved my writing skills.
However, since joining the class up to the end of the semester, there is a significant improvement in my mastery of English grammar. The class has not only improve my language but has positively transformed my life. I am a better person compared to the time I joined the course. I still remember several mistakes that I would make in my writings. I used to make a lot of grammatical errors, which included writing awkward sentences, sentences that lacked meanings, and the teacher would often struggle to read my content. I used to write sham papers due to the many grammatical mistakes, and this affected me negatively due to a lack of confidence in what I write. I use to feel bad, especially when I looked at my performance, but I never gave up.
Throughout this semester, my writing skills have significantly improved. I joined the class as an immature writer with many grammatical mistakes but consistent practice, have improved my writing skills. I have a lot of confidence in my writing skills than before and still hope to improve with time. I have been able to execute and write good papers on different topics. Therefore, reflecting on the semester, I have transformed to become a better writer. I have come to understand that writing is a process and depends majorly on the kind of efforts that an individual puts every day in their studies. I learned that for one to write a good paper, there must be consistency, which means writing several papers and looking for various mistakes that the paper may be having and removing such errors. The key lesson that I have learned through the course is that, for a student to write a good paper. In the back in high school, my teacher would always like my ideas and thoughts, but putting them in the paper was difficult. However, she would still deal with my awkwardness; she made me developed an interest in writing because she was patient with me in everything that I use to do. The course has changed my attitude towards writing as I am a better writer as compared to the beginning of the semester.
No person is perfect, and writing is a process s that requires an individual to accept their mistakes and correct where necessary. The sooner an individual look at writing as a learning process, the better, throughout the semester, I developed a greater interest in learning and improving my English language. The learning process started at the beginning of the semester. I would spend most of my time working on areas of weaknesses, and this really helps me to identify some of the areas that I needed to work on to improve my performance.
