Project Scope

Within this report, we are supposed to do a plan as well as a design for Patmos Aktis Suites and Spa.  TP-Link is a telecommunication firm which is known in Greece and other parts of the globe. It offers multiple services in the telecommunication sector.  For the hospitality industry, TP-Link offers improvements on guest satisfaction and loyalties with more exceptional Wi-Fi for luxurious hotels. Mostly, in this project, we have been provided with a case study that introduces TP-Link together with the requirement for the designers in an attempt of designing a network for the hotel.  For that matter, the report shall follow the significant phases for creating networks.  For instance, it paper will take into consideration the gathering of the requirements, planning as well as designing, taking into account the critical goals of efficient network design. For instance, security issues, availability, scalability and manageability just to assist in completing the project in this course.

Project Requirements

Upon assessing the details concerning the Patmos Aktis Suites and Spa have given in the case study, these are some of the network design which is required by the hotel:

  1. Patmos Aktis Suites and Spa needs network made up of three branches each in various Greece city as well as headquarter which is found in Greece
  2. The network solution of Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa is outdated, having inadequate coverage.
  • Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa has issues of ubiquitous connectivity with weak security lacking centralized management when taking a toll.
  1. Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa has been experiencing inefficient in addition to the vulnerable network which bears negative impacts on the satisfaction of the guests
  2. Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa needs coverage of 56 rooms as well suites having no dead zones. It needs authentication, which is customized. It requires a pleasant aesthetic design which shall permit accessibility
  3. Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa demand of the efficient and intuitive management that is centralized and can be easily controlled and accessed in the whole networks.
  • Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa requires appropriate capacity which can be used in offering sufficient bandwidth for every hotel guest. It needs reliable connectivity.

Strategy for network design

Having in mind all the required demands for the Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa, a simple network topology has been designed. The topology follows the hierarchical network design that can be easier when it comes to management.  The topology would be used for network administrators. The topology makes it hard for the attackers to attack the hotel’s systems [1]. The topology is more comfortable to expand when the management of Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa in future intends to do so. Again, it has incredibly low downtimes.

Diagram of the Network Topology

Fig 1: Cisco routers

From the diagram above, cisco routers have been used for every branch. Router 2 is availed at headquarter of the hotel. This makes the internet services to be offered easily from router 2 in which router 1 and 4 are put within Grikos Bay and Patmos Island. VLAN shall be getting all the updates of every switch.

Switch configuration

The switches will be confided with the use of VLAN and Trunking. By these, we shall be utilizing global configuration approach for the operations as outline in the program below.

Program 1

Program 2

The program above would be used in setting the port of a trunk to make the information shareable between backbones and other switches.

Configuration of Routers

The interface for router 1 carries out routing for inter-VLAN

The traffic for wireless LAN can be blocked in that it can’t access internal network which has been set in ACL.

Configuration of DCHP

Configuring DCHP assists in the IP address distribution

Justifications  of the design

From the diagram above, I have succeeded in developing the system for Patmos Aktis Suites and Spa with the use of Netsim just as outlined in the figure above.  The above design is meeting all the requirements which the company presented earlier. As I had described above, I would be using a hierarchical strategy when it comes to designing the network.  Thus, in the diagram, it can be seen that there is hierarchical networks design for Patmos Aktis Suites and Spa in which essential routers of the head office is linked to the three branches of the hotel. Again the three main chapters have been divided further into different departments through the use of sub and main switches. For simplicity, I have incorporated three departments as well as distinct VLAN meant for backing every user in the department. Additional two departments shall be included within the network in similar manners because five departments were needed at each section. I have similarly created a separate WLAN within all the three branches. This makes clients visiting the Patmos Aktis Suites and Spa to get access to internet usage. The employees of the hotel are capable through the design to commute to the working station via the use of WLAN. In place of incorporating 150 laptops, I managed to include one personal computer in every department. Other PCs shall be integrated at the branch level through linking them to various departments by the use of switches. When moving to headquarter, there exist four departments within HQ. For that matter, the other remaining branches may be included just the same ways just like it has been done. All the servers which have been used are located at the headquarters of Patmos Aktis Suites and Spa. These servers are a web server, file server and email server. They are situated at the offices such that should a server get attacked then appropriate action can be taken immediately before the attack becomes worse. Reducing the attack makes it possible for none of the customers to get assessed to the resources which are available at the headquarters during such eventualities.

Configuration of network device

Switching the configuration

To change the setting of a network, these steps should be followed:

  1. The IP address should be set. This can be done through the use of these prompt commands:

[2]

[3]

[2]

  1. Create VLAN
  • Ping

[4]

  1. Perform VTP domain
  2. Do the password for VTP.
  3. Demonstrate the packets of VTP

[5]

Configuration of the router

The following process should be considered when configuring a router:

  1. Set up the IP address and describe the interface
  2. Display the information
  3. Perform the subnet masks, for this task a subnet mask of has been used
  4. Do the configuration of DHCP
  5. Ping
