Nursing Theorists Assignment Criteria
In this assignment, you will use your knowledge and research skills to examine and analyze nursing theories. You will compare and contrast two nursing theories. Discuss each theory’s major concepts and describe application of each theory in your own practice setting. Include at least one potential application for practice per theory.
_______ Write an introduction for this paper, including the relevance of this topic to you. Include elements that will be in the paper, as well as the purpose of the paper.
_______ Give a brief background of each theorist, and explain how his or her theory was developed. Provide the major concepts of each chosen theory. Additionally, give the rationale for your theory choices.
_______ Compare and contrast the two nursing theories. How do they differ and how are they alike?
_______ Identify and describe your health care practice setting. Discuss how you would apply these theories in your chosen practice situation, and provide rationales. State why you feel each theory is appropriate in your practice setting. Give at least one application to practice per theory.
_______ Write a conclusion for your paper. The conclusion should be a reflection of the elements found in the introductory paragraph and should include a brief summary of the main points.
_______ Use the APA template provided for you. Use APA format to write your paper and follow your APA guidelines carefully. Use third person, not first person, to write your paper. Please use headings. A short paper requires Level One and possibly Level Two Headings. Be sure to cite your references and you should have a minimum of three (3) references for this paper. There should be one internet reference, one book reference, and one journal reference. Proofread your paper for grammar and spelling. If you have trouble writing, have a peer read your paper and give you feedback. The paper should be between 4-6 pages, not including title or reference page.
