For a maximum healthy body, one needs to understand both nutritional essentials and change our eating habits. For this to be successful, an individual needs to understand the nutritional related terms such as metabolism, LDL, HDL, and BIM and their significance in one’s health. Metabolism an essential process in an individual’s health

Metabolism is the process by which the body breaks down food to produce energy for crucial processes in the body. Metabolism is dictated by the sum of all processes that require and consume energy in the body. Understanding the factors that determine the overall metabolic process is essential to maintain the health of the body. For example, age, lean muscle mass and quantity of food intake affect the metabolism process Thus, understanding metabolism as a nutritional term helps and individual to change their eating habits and dietary necessities to maintain a healthy life.

Low-density-lipoproteins (LDLs); these are fatty chemicals that are attached to proteins and carried around in the bloodstream. They cause deposits of fats to accumulate in the arteries, thus posing various health risks in the body. For example, high deposits of LDLs may increase the chances of developing cardiovascular disease. Therefore, understanding the concept of LDLs is vital not only for adults but also for every individual. If my friend understands LDLs concept, they will be in a position to effectively develop healthy ideas that will enhance the society’s health. On the other hand, HDLS plays a vital role in reducing the risks posed by LDLs (Journal, 2013).

The cholesterol present in the body matters a lot in an individual’s health. The proportion of LDLs to HDLs (high-density-lipoproteins) determines the amount of cholesterol in the body. HDLs are necessary chemicals essential for keeping arteries clear and breaking down the fatty chemical deposits in the arteries. Therefore, high levels of HDLs in the body is a protective factor against the risks of cardiovascular disease in adults. The reduction of LDLs in the body is an effective way of diminishing cardiovascular disease risks in not only adults but also in people of all ages. Understanding HDLs will help people understand the various ways of raising their levels. For example, frequent exercising, consuming a high-fiber diet, and controlling one’s weight are some of the ways HDLs levels can be raised (Robert V. Kail and John C. Cavanaugh, 2019).

Concerning diet and nutrition, there are health disorders such as obesity that are becoming more serious. One way of determining obesity in an individual is through computing the Body Mass Index (BMI). BMI is the ratio of body weight in response to the overall amount of fats in the body, calculated by the formula BMI=W/H2 where W is weight in kilograms, and H is the height in meters of an individual. High BMI in an individual increase the risk of obesity, which is associated with serious medical conditions and mortality. Therefore it is vital to understand these nutritional terms as guidance for a healthy life.
