Oil spills on the environment and Katrina hurricane
Katrina hurricane is a widely known wind disaster which is still remembered in the memories of people of the United States. Being born in New Orleans, my relatives got to experience this hurricane in reality and not narrations. I have spent most of my life in disaster management, especially in the feeding program working for the United Nations. From my working experience, I develop the feeling that the government delayed taking appropriate measures to curb this epidemic, thus giving it an unethical image. Local authorities, state, and national government were slow in taking appropriate action apart from those in power involving personal interests hindering the deployment of funds and personnel. Due to this delay and own interests, there was a loss of life and wealth. To curb this problem, I feel that a more effective and ethical measure should have been employed to save more lives and property. The United States defense forces such as the army and air force should have been deployed in time to combat this. I develop some feeling that the Katrina region was more affected due to high poverty-stricken people. Areas like Kenner and Metairie, which are suburban were less affected as there was the early deployment of a security team (Boonmee & Asada, 2017). The level of security indicates that fewer fortune people were given minimal consideration and more funds were saves at the expense of human life.

Oil spills on the environment cause different forms of pollution and accidents such as fire disaster. The oil company should be solely responsible for the spillage and charged with the task of cleanup expenses. It is a requirement by law that the oil company should employ people with relevant knowledge to aid the clean up to minimize the spread of the spill (Dugan, 2018). Ethically, I feel that the public at the tremendous need to be informed on the cause and the effects without withholding information. For example, the BP oil spill harmed the people such as hindering fishing, beaches were inaccessible, and the seafood industry was affected economically.
Due to the oil spill, the cost of other sources of energy tends to rise. It is therefore vital for the government to intervene and eliminate such unhealthy consumer exploitations. The ministry of wildlife also needs to step in to rescue injured animals, aquatic undergoing suffocation in water infested with an oil layer. Such a department can also educate people and warn them about the dangers of spillage. The media have been tasked with the responsibility of giving g information on injuries, damages and casualties to the public in disasters. It has been, however, discovered that the oil company might downplay providing accurate data due to fear of losing profit.
