One of the very captivating scenes in the film
One of the very captivating scenes in the film is the one where Norman finds out that Marion is dead. It is fascinating to see how Norman reacts throughout this scene. From the shock that he portrays, to when we hear him yelling in the house, and up until he finds her body lying in the tub, it is surprising to know that he was the one who murdered Marion and several others. Though this may not have been obvious, there were subtle hints throughout this scene and film that could lead to one believing he was the murderer, such as the imagery of birds that were used in the movie. An example of this would be in the scene where Marion is seen eating and conversing with Norman. This scene took place while birds, who appeared peaceful, were seen in the background, but once Marion began to talk about a mental facility for Norman’s mother, you could see Norman’s expression change. He was then being filmed from a low angle that conveys power and that he could be a potential threat.
Additionally, in the shot was what appears to be an owl with its wings spread out was shown looking as if it is going to swoop down and attack its prey. After this moment occurred, Marion was then shot standing next to the crow, which appeared to be pecking at her, which could be foreshadowing her upcoming death. The beginning half of this movie seems to build with more tension as it progresses, up to a point where she is murdered. After the murder takes place, it seems as though the tension resets and begins to rise once again to where Lila and Sam are in the house. That scene, along with the shower scene, had some intensity and faster-moving sequences which stands out from the rest of the movie.
