Online marketing

Marketing takes different paths according to the business type that is according to the target audience. All strategies employ strategies such as knowing the best time to advertise a product, for example, during black Fridays and Christmas holidays and the branding itself (Woschnick, 2019). Branding well might get a product to sale faster based on the general appearance and information provided about the item in question. Online marketing has become very popular with the increased use of the internet. Getting clients is easily done via social media pages such as Facebook and online shops such as amazon. However, there is one type of marketing that influences one’s choices without them having to change their perspective. It is called nudge marketing. Nudge marketing is a psychological strategy in business that convinces customers to take any action without the promise of discounts or promotions (Neosperience Team, 2018).

With the ongoing crisis, COVID 19, nudge marketing will help in making people practice social distancing and practice better hygiene practices subconsciously. To ensure social distancing is practised, supermarkets and malls have taped the floor. Elevators have also been taped to show that only a maximum of four people can be in an elevator at ago.  One way nudging marketing works is by making the part in question outstanding, for instance, in the example of a staircase and an elevator. The staircase is made brighter than the lift that makes people use the stairs subconsciously.  In the case of COVID 19, governments have resolved in using nudge theory in getting people to practice measures put in place (Yates, 2020). The UK government strategy in dealing with the pandemic follows the nudge theory that is not forcing people to do individual acts but instead use thoughtful insights to change their behaviours. This theory explains the UK’s different approach from what China, Italy, Iran and other countries have done to combat new infections. For them, they feel that if they restrict people’s movement by force, they will find different ways to disobey the laws and thus increase the spread. So they resolved in using nudge behavioural approach to get people to wash their hands, sanitize and to stay at home.
