Overview of Quality in Healthcare
Description of the issue and associated challenges
The aging hospital facility is a patient concern issue that is affecting many institutions that are offering health care services. Buildings that are housing health care firms in many cases are old, and the equipment that is used in the provision of the health facilities is often not meeting the health qualities that are needed (Middleton, Li, Kuo, et al.,2017). The buildings are old and poorly designed to accommodate today’s standard of health services that are supposed to be offered. The poor design structures have not proper ventilation; this may result in illness and injuries that may be caused by floor layouts that do not meet modern standards.
Similarly, there is the use of old equipment for treating patients that do not meet the required standards of modern hospitals. The equipment will not help in the research and identification of diseases that are emerging; this will result in the diagnosis of wrong prescriptions, or there will be no identification of illness; thus, no objects will be achieved (World Health Organization,2017). Having old equipment will not help patients through their health and recover quickly, or it may result in side effects that will haunt the patient to other illnesses. Operational systems that are old fashioned will not allow the movement of facilities and making the health facility a better place of offering health care.
Other associated problems on patient safety concerns are the medication errors where patients get the wrong drug, wrong dosage of when they are given both wrong medication and dosage. This type of mistake happens due to the slip of documentation and other types of human errors that may occur. Medication error reports have a massive effect on the patient and the manner they are being handled when they have taken the wrong medication.
Another problem that is associated with patient safety is diagnostic errors. They happen when a health care provider gets a diagnosis wrongly, and the mistake can be minor, or they can make the delayed recovery of a patient. Diagnostic errors can be caused by poor handling of equipment or the having tools that do not meet the standard that is required; it ends up providing a wrong direction to offer medication that is not meant to be offered.
How EBP, research, and PI would be utilized to address the issue
The evidence-based practice will help in providing guidelines on how health organizations should come up with designs and equipment that will aid meet patients’ needs. The evidence-based practices will have help in identifying the problem the patient safety issues, and it will elaborate through steps on how the issue will be solved (Wiseman & Harris,2015). The evidenced-based practice will help have practical concerns that should be resolved for the better handling of patients. The research will have to quantify the need for having the best health facilities that will help the firm meet its objectives and missions as they have been set. The most crucial aspect, the research will help the firm to realize the methods that they will use in making the facilities in modernizing the health care firm. The PI will give fundamental concepts on how the firm will achieve the objectives that they will have to set so that they can realize the drawback of the organization.
The Quality Improvement process I will use to apply and the reason why I chose it.
The quality improvement process will focus on building a culture of quality in my practice that will be considered in making the firm better (Day, Lindauer, Parks, et al.,2017). The process and procedures will have to follow the integral effort for ensuring the hospital has modern equipment that will help them meet the required standards of the firm. The b culture will help the firm to reflect passionately on impressing the quality and having more detailed improvements that will help have the firm realized its missions. The quality culture improvement will help in the establishment of the quality through the establishment of a team, having regular meetings, and creating policies that will help the firm to realize its goal.
The process will help to determine and prioritize potential areas that should be improved with the firm. It will bring an understanding of practices that will help oversee the hospital rebuild in better levels that will help the firm have the best designs that will accommodate modern equipment and technology. This step will help to examine the patient population that visits the hospital so that we can have an idea of how we would develop the infrastructure. This will help use quality measures that will help in the establishment of the firm.
Collection and analysis of the data are among the key areas that will help in the quality improvement of the facilities (Nazir, Unroe, Buente, et al.,2016). The data will be used to estimate the size of the facility and the future population that will be likely to visit the facility. This data will help in laying estimates and lay foundations on how they should have all the resources assembled for the renovation of better infrastructure of the organization. After analysis of the data communication of the results will help have the best way of containing all the information. The staff, physicians, and patients will have to get a notice over the renovations that are taking place within the facility so that it cannot create inconveniences on operations of the firm. Commitment to the results and will help in revisiting and effectiveness of interventions that are taking place within the organization.
I have chosen the quality improvement process because it suits the patient safety problem that I identified. Old health care facilities will be put into improvement through this method so that the hospital can realize their goals and visions. Similarly, I chose this method because it is cost-effective, and it can help have the best ways of achieving the results since its cheaper. The process involves every stakeholder of the firm; thus it’s a whole round process that will work effectively to the success of the firm.
My data sources, including outcomes and process data
My data source is through the records that have been taken within the hospital. The number of patients that have visited the firm over a year will help me have speculation on how I will renovate the firm and the capacity that I will be handling with a specific period, which is a year. I will process the data through graphs; this will help me know the speculations on how frequently the patients have been visiting the hospital (Renedo, Marston, Spyridonidis, et al.,2015).
How data will be captured and be disseminated
Data will be collected through questionnaires that will be presented to patients, the staff, and management so that we could know areas that have urgent renovations with the firm. This method will help have details that are guided through the questionnaire (Wiseman & Harris,2015). Similarly, we will use interviews to help us have the full conduct of the process and tools that we will apply towards improving the safety of patients. The data will be disseminated through the emails and platforms of communication so that the stockholder would be aware of the renovation process.
Organizational culture considerations that will help me to succeed in my work
Working as a team will help me have all my goals covered since I will get ideas from different people and help me put them in practice. The firms work in the hierarchy I will keep my consultation to the top management on every step that I will be making, this will make my work more comfortable to avoid mistakes (Alvesson & Sveningsson,2015).
