Paper Critique
Stakeholder analysis
The stakeholders are explained clearly in the analysis as it covers the key players in the Zoom Company. The stakeholders are appropriate for the data problem’s scope in the sense that it highlights the data problem arising from their usage of Zoom during the covid-19 period.
There are missing stakeholders that that might have special relevance to the data problem for example marginalized communities, which represent specific groups of people who can help to bring out clearly the extent of data problem of utilizing services of zoom and can pile pressure to the company to change its data policy problems recorded.
The relationship between the stakeholders is addressed as direct and indirect stakeholders relationship is well outlined. The paper has described corporations as important stakeholders as it has a significant influence on public opinion hence the power to influence more concrete privacy policies by Zoom.
The paper could be improved by revising how stakeholders are abstracted to be into different levels of smaller groups like parents, employees, students, etc.
Policy alternatives
The policy alternatives are not meaningfully different from each other; the small differences meaningfully affect the data problem. This is because the secure platform creates a safe environment for data and its users.
The Microsoft Teams and Zoom Company has an obligation to secure the data of the students and the corporations. The students have no obligations but to enjoy the services of Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
The policy alternative can account for an unintended consequence through issuing apologies and compensation to the users in society.
Criteria for evaluation
Evaluation criteria make sense given the specific data problem by highlighting the specific data problem associated with the zoom and Microsoft Teams services.
The evaluation criteria do not systematically give certain stakeholders an advantage over others. This is because it has evaluated each stakeholder equally.
The criteria are justified as it provides ethical positions used to justify the criteria. The Data problem has been outlined to depict the issues caused, which drained the values of the students, and the ethical issues out of data insecurity.
Policy alternative evaluation
The evaluation method is clear as it outlined the evaluation criteria for each alternative. The evaluation has adjudicated the policy recommendations of how to address the security issues. The evaluations are correct as it assesses policy alternatives to deal with the challenges of the data problem.
The criteria for different policy alternatives were consistent with all policy alternatives. The alternative’s strengths and weaknesses have been clearly outlined using the same criteria, which has brought out a small difference in the data problem issues exhibited in the analysis.
The alternatives meaningfully address both strengths and weaknesses. The Zoom Company’s weakness is that it has not addressed data privacy issues and Zoom bombing, which is a concern to the stakeholders, for example, parents and students. Its strength is that it has enabled platform for conferencing. Microsoft has also enabled a platform for conferencing and has addressed the issues of data privacy. Microsoft has won from the policy of data privacy while zoom has lost it. The two have won to provide a platform for conferencing, but Microsoft teams are is not popular among educational institutions.
The stakeholders not included might be impacted by these policy alternatives either directly or indirectly. When they are impacted negatively, they will lose, and when they are impacted positively, they will win.
