Personal Story as a Beginning Writer
A while ago, I hit a bump in my overall writing. I lacked enough writing ideas and wracked my brain for any possibilities and later landed on a great one. I was essentially relieved, but for a second, I felt like I wouldn’t ever think for a good idea as such. I tried writing about the concept that was based on my primary interest in traveling. I later realized that the idea was not so great and had the wrong voice. I tried once more and failed, leading to a major panic. I lacked a good excuse for why I wasn’t able to write well since I was not into a life change situation. I also did not have any of a stressing mood and was well fit and healthy. Despite these favorable conditions, I came up with extremely desperate ideas and could not write a few pages, not even a whole novel. Despite these hurdles, I realized that I should access my weaknesses and strengths in overall writing to do better in the future.
Strengths
Ability to Sit for a Longer Time
I believe that a good writer sits for a longer period to execute a good writeup. In my case, I have such a strength that I can ensure that I write more. Previously, I used to get restless and antsy after sitting for long, but currently, I am used to it. As a writer, I have acquired the skill of sitting still for a maximum of 6 hours to get my work completed. The skill is essential now and in the future to have me succeed in writing.
Curiosity and Lifelong Learning
Another crucial trait for a good writer that I believe I have is curiosity. I am addicted to learning new things and asking questions about happenings as I think of good ideas to write about. I have found interest in stories, people, industries, and methodologies. I have the feeling that I can write exciting stories about whatever interests me. With these positive aspects, I ought to start sharing my discoveries and documenting them in a journal. As a beginner writer, I am also committed to lifelong learning. I have realized that lifelong learning is an excellent step towards a writing career. The more I learn, the higher the chances of writing about great ideas.
Weaknesses
My significant weaknesses in writing are distractions and not finding the right ideas and words to write. I find it challenging to handle distractions as they arise when I am writing. These distractions affect my concentration level leading to the diversion of ideas and loss of words to write. Some of the distractions include the internet, noise from people, and the TV. My writing space is my primary cause of disturbances, and I will have to change it to help manage the weakness. On the weakness of lacking ideas to write about, I usually stare at my computer for hours without thinking of a good idea. After I plan a story, I find it challenging to write a good starting paragraph. I realize that in the future, I will have to manage these weaknesses towards being a good beginning writer.
Plan to Achieve Success in Writing
Regardless of the hurdles, I find when writing, I have a better plan to aid in succeeding in my writing. Firstly, I will focus on planning ahead such that I divide my work into smaller portions and set aside time to accomplish each. Secondly, I will focus on completing every writing step and use the available resources to help boost my writing skills for a successful future in writing.
