Persuasive Speech: Energy medicine
In this speech, I will notify my audience about the significance of incorporating energy medicine into mainstream institutions of medicine. I am passionate about this subject because I believe the incorporation of energy medicine into conventional medical organizations could genuinely make a difference in the world of healthcare. John Mike’s arm had been aching for several months. He is a Physical Education (P.E) instructor and a father of two. John underwent two surgeries, but the pain did not disappear. Instead, it worsened. However, the toughest part of the situation was the fact that John has a Vicodin addiction besides the pain from the physical problem he had to deal with daily. To halt the deterioration of his health, John contacted a community acupuncturist. After only two sessions, John could undergo entire days pain-free. Five months into the acupuncture treatments, John experienced drugs and pain-free days. A medical miracle? Most scientists and doctors would not agree. That is the main reason John’s doctors never notified him of the possibility of utilizing energy medicine in the first place.
According to Ross (2019), acupuncture is one of several treatments in the discipline of energy medicine which provides real healing outcome. Therefore, despite the many criticisms, it ought to be incorporated into conventional medical organizations and delivered to patients as a choice of healing therapies. Indeed, the subject of energy medicine is a puzzling matter for most people. Consequently, energy medicine entails numerous fields and can be challenging to classify out fiction from fact. Besides, the term energy medicine involves various medical procedures, consisting of acupuncture, massage, reiki, as well as yoga.
By aiming energy and applying pressure via the hands to particular points on the body, specialists can alter energy flow in the body, preventing diseases, as well as easing pain (Ross, 2019). Undisputedly, the body functions through energy. As a result, humans need energy for almost every aspect of their lives, such as growth, development, metabolism, digestion, running, walking, breathing, and many more. Energy medicine works by diagnosis and treatment of blocked energy flow within our bodies develop safety and balance.
Doctors and scientists in the developed world imply that energy medicine is slightly more than a fiddle. Subsequently, many articles have reported that most of the energy medicine is “outrageous quackery.” Furthermore, many critics forewarn that energy medicine is relatively unsafe for people who have severe medical conditions, as several people opt for these practices over more traditional therapeutic techniques. For instance, in a New England Journal of Medicine study published in 1993, defied the medical system by suggesting that thousands of people used energy medicine fruitfully for chronic pains that their medical doctors did not manage to treat. However, the truth of the matter is that energy medicine can assist protect and heal the body.
Giving patients a choice in conventional medical organizations and institutions also offers them more options to gain healthy lifestyles. Remarkably, it is vital to note that energy medicine is not hazardous and even if it does not work, patients are left in a situation that is better than the one in which they were in before they sought for the procedure. However, this aspect is not always the case with conventional medical practices. Consideringly, there is no justification not to give energy medicine a chance in the medical procedures. Whilst many people argue that energy medicine does not function, the other major claim is that it wastes money.
For example, the National Institute of Health developed the National Center for Complementary and Alternative medicine in 1999 with a budget of 50 million dollars. As a result, traditional scientists and doctors got annoyed that the 50 million dollars were not allotted to their regular agendas. Most opponents of energy medicine seemed to be against scrutinizing its impacts. This position is, possibly, because these critics of the practice are worried about the results of the preliminary researches. Subsequently, since 1966, over 300,000 surveys have been finalized to illustrate the efficacy of energy medicine.
For that matter, the opponents of energy medicine should be silenced by the fact that the application of the energy medicine program offers peace of mind as well as relieve pain and stress for most patients. Surveys have shown that positive outlook or thinking on a disease can assist a patient in recovering more easily together with the energy medicine programs. Additionally, the energy medicine program helps patients in mainstream medicine to heal more efficiently and prolong their lives. Therefore, this impact is essential to allow energy medicine to be incorporated into mainstream medicine, and more research should be conducted to create more awareness of its significance in medicine.
In conclusion, energy medicine should be an option for conventional doctors, scientists, as well as patients. Subsequently, scientists should accept and conduct more research on the benefits this practice brings in the healthcare systems. By permitting energy medicine to be incorporated into conventional medical institutions, humans will not hurt suffering patients. It is, therefore, very possible that patients can be assisted through energy medicine.
