Time by Pink Floyd
Dark Side of the Moon was the 8th album by Pink Floyd released in 1973. Time is the fourth song in this album. This song talks about wasting away your time doing nothing, or about using most of your life doing useless and little things. Many people miss the chance to enjoy their lives to the fullest since they were there time doing boring things. The song explicitly examines the notion of regret by most people for not utilizing the chance of living well as one of the biggest tragedies in human life.
Time is a complex lyrical production that is both personal and progressive. The author moves from a young person’s point of view to an old person’s perspective gradually through each stanza. This builds a movement through time, creating a smooth flow. The personal attribute of “Time” is depicted by the phrasing employed by Pink Floyd, which builds the direction of the song.
The progression portrayed by “Time” is emphasized by the use of shift in stanzas. Every stanza explains a specific stage of thinking. The first stanza shows the beginning of a person’s life journey. This progresses through to the fourth stanza. In the fourth stanza, the author emphasizes that experience is built over several years, through better involvement and lost innocence. Due to this progression, the last stanza concludes the song, leading to an end of a series of phases.
Through the use of varied points of views fetched from diverse ages, and unifying them, “Time” build an image of a life cycle. Through the use of specific pronouns such as “you” all through the song, Pink Floyd establishes a method of telling his message through a general sense rather than through definite instances. “Time” is a song with a universal view, created through a superbly organized structure, which illustrates the message being conveyed.

Freedom, Happiness and Justice
The poem talks about the rational organization and the rationality of the society to promote freedom, happiness and justice. The poem establishes that the choice for happiness is a personal business and a matter of taste. This is emphasized by the use of exposition as a literary device. The poem runs down the idea of the interpretation of happiness based on personal interpretation of different situations. Different people will perceive freedom based on their point of view, what someone considers freedom and happiness another person might consider its captivity.
Figurative language is also employed in the poem. The poet represents the feeling of the speaker about our society as flavours. Perception of freedom, happiness and justice is represented in different flavours depending on who is tasting or receiving them. The poet also employs symbolism. Different symbols are used to represent freedom, while its gradual deterioration and ultimate destruction in the society metaphorically represent the collective downfall of this social morals.
