Physician-assisted suicide
Euthanasia is the practice of intentionally ending the life of a patient in order to relieve the pain or suffering of the patient. Euthanasia may or may not be carried out with the knowledge of the patient. In most countries, voluntary euthanasia is legal, while non-voluntary euthanasia is illegal.
Physician-assisted suicide is the act where a physician facilitates or provides a patient with the information or means to enable the patient to end his or her own life by themselves. The physician provides the patient with a lethal dose well aware that the patient intends to end his or her life.in most countries, physician-assisted suicide is illegal, and the physician can be charged under manslaughter. In countries where its legal, the process must be put in writing, stating that the patient was of sound mind while undertaking the process.
In my opinion, euthanasia is better than physician-assisted suicide. Physicians are not solely described by their profession but also by the moral obligations that come with being a doctor. For this reason, they should uphold their fidelity to patients as protectors of life. The decision to end the life of a patient should not be put in the hand of a patient. However, in some situations, it may be considered to sacrifice the quantity of life for quality of life. The decision is made if suffering will end only when the patient dies. All medical options must also be exhausted, meaning that there is nothing that medicine can do for the patient. At this point, the prospect of ending the life of a patient can be put on the table. The burden, however, must not be placed on the patient. Euthanasia, at this point, can be given the go-ahead.
