Positive and negative aspects of agricultural progress
One of the positives of agricultural progress is that it makes one have better control of the food supply. In case of drought or famine, a farmer has reduced chances of getting to starvation. This is based on the fact that the production of food in large quantities through agriculture enhances food security. Apart from that, the other positives of agriculture is that it led to further developments in the society. For instance, it is through the practice of agriculture that people developed dams. Besides that, agriculture can help in supporting people who are not directly involved in the production of food, with an example being the tradespeople. Last but not least, agriculture can help in providing shelter as it provides man with wool, which can be used in making clothing to curb cold.
On the other hand, one of the negative aspects of agricultural progress is that it makes people slaves to others. The laborers have been found to forcefully work in agricultural fields with little or no pay. Therefore, it can be stated that the practice of agriculture, at some point, led to the violation of human right to liberty. Lastly, agriculture involves too much work to get a single product delivered in the market.
