Practice Learning Experience
- Please discuss one practice learning experience you have completed over the past two weeks, and how this experience has supported your learning
Over the past two weeks, I did my clinical nursing practice which was centred on evidence-based practice. I completed the process of assessing a patient’s pain through an experiment done on a 60-year-old man who was had had an accident that left him with pain in the left shoulder and the neck. One primary practice is addressing the patient by understanding that his suffering is what he says it is and not what I think it is (Kalyani, 2019). I learned how to assess the situation, such as presenting medication and evaluating the feeling that the patient has after medication such as panic. Administering medication while making sure that the patient and the caregiver are allowed to make their own decisions.
In the whole of my clinical practice experience, I was working with and under the supervision of a registered nurse. Working with a registered nurse in my clinical nursing practice helped me work her schedule and be present from the beginning to the end. Clinical learning practice also helped in connecting what is learnt in class with what is expected of a nurse.
- Working on your community health assessment, what is/are the focus/i points that will drive your plan for the community intervention?
I will focus on Health in all policies (HiAP) approach to assess the social determinants of health that encourages the government to cover multiple sectors like education programs to improve community health. Additionally, I will focus on enhancing community participation. According to Pronk et al. (2013), community participation involves engaging those affected in the initiative of transforming the conditions that affect community health.
