The driving force behind the decision of Truman was to bring the war to the swift end. He just wanted the Pacific war to end as early as possible without Americans invading the Japanese Islands. During the fights between the two nations, the Japanese have shown some remarkable courage, and they always had high tenacity in defending any position held by them. The Americans took with them the bitterness of heavy casualties in every battle it faced with Japan. Every time there was a war between the two nations, American war leaders had every reason for expecting difficulties while retaliating. The battle was too difficult for them, and the number of casualties was increased now and then. The president’s chief military advisor of America could talk about half a million while discussing the issue of victims.

After several encounters Japan and the United States of America, Germany and Japan signed a treaty of protecting each other in case of the attack by the country not in the war. Japan and Italy formed part of the Soviets, who were becoming more powerful. It is also noted that Japan was feeling threatened by the United States since they were on the mission of expanding their territories. It can be argued that President Truman was also feeling threatened by the growing soviets which could conquer many of European countries. Top government quarters in Washington DC and other residents were already worried about the expected gains of the Soviets. It was a fact that Japan was becoming more powerful through protection treaties signed between them and Germany. Furthermore, they also signed the agreement with Italy, which, in a way, boosted their attacking powers. President Truman realized that Japan was becoming more powerful when several casualties’ could increase anytime they have a battle. United states have to use its control to stop Japan from becoming a superpower since the Japanese were only interested in expanding their territories. The radiation Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was believed to be the best method of bringing the war to an end.

Through analysis of the second world war shows that it has leading causes. Among those causes, expansion of the territories was the leading cause. In trying to do so, they had started to invade China, Manchuria, and Korea. They invaded those territories through various attacks, which in a way could trigger attacks. Besides, it was the technique used by Japan to make them more powerful. Upon realizing their mission, the United States made attempts to stood on their way, an aspect that triggered fights. By that time, those attacked countries such as China and Korea were not strong enough to retaliate the attacks. Also, they could not rely on other countries such as Germany and Italy since they were part of the Soviets. The nations which were left to protect them were Great Britain and the USA. It can be argued that the way Japan was determined to expand its territories was a way of preparing to spread more attacks. It can be argued that reason that there was indeed reason to stop Japan from invading other countries. If this could not happen, nations could ally, and the war would continue for an extended period. To stop extending the attacks and formation of more allies, Japan has to be stopped. It was believed that stopping Japan could lead to neutralization of attacks since they attacked intensively. Through having the massive bombing of its among the largest cities, China could surrender and stop the attacks.

There is another possibility that the Bombing of Japan was a way of warning soviets about the strength of United America. By that time, the second world war was going, the USA was already a superpower, and it could also want to protect is status. That is the reason why it started to worry about the popularity and power gained by the soviets. The United States was also aware that Japan was getting help from Germany and Italy. Furthermore, they also wanted to expand their territories either for economic purposes. In a way, they did not wish to soviets to take control or overtake them. To prevent being overtaken, it can be argued bombing Japan was a method of sending their strength to soviets. It can be said that it was a way of warning them that they could also attack other members of soviets to remind them they are still superpowers.

Conclusion

The main point of the argumentative essay is deciding whether the bombing of Japan was to bring the war to an end or a warning to soviets. From the position taken by the paper, it can be concluded that the bombing was done to end the war. It can be deduced that Japan and another member of the Soviets were on toes of overthrowing the United States from the superpower position. Therefore, the only method was using the intensive attack on vulnerable nations such as China and Korea. To protect those countries and stop the war, the United States decided to Bomb Japan.
