As the population of students admitted every year continue to grow, it have been noted that there is congestion in most of the faculties. Therefore, there is a need to build another facility that will accommodate more students. Each year the number of students admitted for their first year course is increasing, and the current facilities and equipment need to be added to ensure that the congestion experienced now gets reduced. The new facility will also have additional computer labs and other laboratories to ensure that the practical courses have adequate space to conduct their activities. It has also been noted that the students have been carrying desks to their lecture rooms, and this new project also proposes that new desks should be bought to add to the existing ones. The students have been spending a lot of time searching for a desk to sit on, and this has led to time wastsge and disruption of classes, as they try to create space fir the late students. Therefore, this new facility will be a five storey building that will accommodate the two faculties that have the highest number of students as a way to decongest the institution.
The scope of this project will involve activities such as, this project will take around one year to be complete if all things go as planned. The institution will ensure that before new students are admitted next year, there will be a new facility to accommodate them. The new facility will be ready for use before the year ends, and the identified faculties can shift their operations there. All the stakeholders will have to communicate effectively and in case of any changes they will be communicated to and by the head of the project, who is the dean of students. The stakeholders f this project include the board of directors, students, lecturers, parents, and other donors. The stakeholders have to determine the design of the facility. The information will be collected through questionnaires to determine the most preferred interior and exterior designs.
The proposed budget for this project is $5000000, which I think it will be enough to cater for all the expenses for this project that will take one year to be complete. The project will involve various workers and engineers and they will be on a one year contract. One of the engineers will be selected as the foreman of this project, and will report directly to the project manager for recommendations or any other changes. The project will use the modern internal and external designs that the stakeholders have proposed, but the most affordable design will be selected. The foreman is expected to organize the workforce that will ensure steady construction for the given period. Any changes in the budget or any other aspect will have to be authorized by the stakeholders.
The design elements for this project include; the project will use thick lines to separate various rooms. The project will use primary colors depending on the theme of the institution and the faculties that will occupy the building. The school have provided a half an acre for this project, and therefore, the building will have a rectangular shape to ensure that it occupies most of the space of the half an acre provided. The building will have to occupy most of this space to fulfill the intended purpose of having a mega building in the school. The texture of this project will be a three-dimensional. Moderate elements size will be used for this project for easy visibility. The asymmetric balance will be used for this project due to its eye-catching nature. The project ought to be pleasing to all people since it will be the first modern building that the school will have. Harmony of all elements will be crucial to ensure that the result product is viable. All the design elements must be compatible with each other to ensure that the result is appealing and it reflects what a modern building should look like. The bidding strategy of this project will include; the total costs of materials will be $1500000 plus a markup of $500000. The labor costs will be around $750000. The estimated inspection period will be one month. The inspecting officers are estimated to take a maximum period of two weeks to respond to the inspections requests.
