Psychology
Nature and nurture are two main factors that play a huge role in determining how an individual/child turns out later in life. Nature refers to innate traits such as intelligence, abilities and temperament. On the other hand, nurture are the influences one gets from the surrounding environment. The environment can include the immediate family, the community or the societal norms and expectations. Therefore, to bring up a healthy child, there is a need to modify the nurture parameter in a way that empowers and motivates the child (Levin, 2020).
The words spoken to children have a huge impact on their wellbeing. Children who live in an environment with kind and encouraging words tend to be more confident. They are likely to be resilient and positive in future. Therefore, encouragement is very important for the wellbeing of a child. Intentional guidance by parents also helps in bringing up healthy children. Parents can teach children on proper physical wellbeing by allowing them to prepare and cook healthy meals. They can also involve the children in physical exercise programs (Trumbull, 2018). Parents and people surrounding children should always take in consideration their actions. Children tend to observe the behavior of the adults surrounding them. Adults hat are abusive around children send a signal to the children that it is okay to be abuse. Kindness will also send the same signal. Further, a level of balance is necessary for the wellbeing of a child. A child should be taught on the importance of moderation, that everything should not be done in excess. These teachings create a sense of balance in a child’s life (Trumbull, 2018).
In the current world, there has been an increase in the use of technology in the day-to-day running of affairs. In the family setting, technology has had a huge impact on the activities of a family. It has enabled parents and teachers to communicate and thus deliberate on a child’s progress. In addition, family members can check on each other via a phone call or text. Technology has also led to the use of video conferencing. Further, children are able to get an opportunity to install applications that are educational in nature (Heras, Chinchilla, & Grau, 2017). Technology has its downside. It can lead to reduced socialization in the family setting. Some children tend to be engrossed to their devices and fail to talk to their guardian or siblings. Therefore, parents need to institute a strict no-phones policy especially during dinner. The policy will enable a child to interact and bond with other family members. Further, to control and monitor the content children are using, the parent should be in possession of the passwords to various platforms used by the children (Heras, Chinchilla, & Grau, 2017).
