Psychopharmacology
The National Survey on Drug use and Health provides information about drug use like tobacco, alcohol, mental related issues, and other health issues. It was created in the year 1971, and since then, it is conducted in all 50 states. About 70,000 people will be interviewed this year concerning how they have supported prevention and treatment monitored their substance use and estimated treatment. NSDUH is directed by the substance Abuse and Mental health Services Administration, which is under the Department of Health and Human Services.
The Behavioral Health barometer for the state of Georgia recorded marijuana use for the year. The use of Marijuana in Georgia is a percentage of 6.4%, which is roughly about 5, 500 people (Compton et al. 2016). The national average use is at 6.8%, which means that the difference between Georgia and the nation is 0.4 %. The use of marijuana in Georgia was legalized for medical purposes, although the law is very strict possession of more than one ounce is punishable by ten years in prison. It is very shocking to know that the biggest number of people using marijuana between 18-25 are found in the state.
After looking at the Behavioral Health Barometer for Georgia’s state, it is clear that the state has the biggest number of users compared to other states. The difference the state and the national average is only 0.4%. There was a slight drop in the use of marijuana comparing the years 2002-2005 and the year 2014-2017. The drop was 0.8%. This means that the strict legal rules that were implemented to stop the use of marijuana in the nation were working.
