Question 1

In a bid to conduct a successful health needs assessment, I would focus on several pieces of data critical to societal health. I will collect data on Child abuses, children in San Diego have been abused in the past, and there are still reports of abused children prompting the need to identify and analyze how the victims are treated. With the rise of cancer cases in the county, it is essential to collect data on patients’ screening. Most patients in the past and the present have had problems meeting their hospital bills, hence analyzing financial capabilities to pay for medication.

Question 2

Data on child abuse can be collected from children centres, though not all children report their cases, children centres have information on abused children and their health (Pennel et al., 2016). The data can also be collected from schools and hospitals. The county department will also provide information on residents’ abilities to pay medical bills; the public will also help us in the collection of the data.

Question 3

Reliable data will be considered based on the county’s health vision and the current situation, hence identifying the gap. The gap between the vision and the current situation will determine whether the data is reliable and valid.

Question 4

Both quantitative and qualitative approaches will come in handy to determine the size of the gap. The quantitative approach will provide a statistical analysis while the qualitative approach provides explanations and possible solutions.

Question 5

I would use the precede-proceed model in my assessment. This model will provide me with all the information I need before launching the assessment and uses society members throughout the process (Porter, 2016). Getting information from the members of the society increases the credibility of the data.
