Questions on research

What is the difference between primary and secondary research?

Primary research can be described as proprietary in the sense that it is original research carried out by an individual, a company or an institution where data collection is specifically done based on the researcher’s tailor-made requirements. Primary research can utilize both qualitative and quantitative methods (Driscoll, 2011). These kinds of research’s main objective is to gather information and provide answers to questions or phenomena that have never been answered before. In many cases, primary researches are always recommended to come after the conclusion of comprehensive secondary research. This is because the primary researches are always uncommon and usually come to fore only when a specific unique issue has never been tackled before. On the other hand, secondary research deals with issues that have been dealt with before; hence answers to the research questions are always readily available.

What is the purpose of an institutional review board (IRB)?

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is an appropriately constituted board under the regulations of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (IRB-FAQs, 2020). The IRB’s purpose is to protect human subjects’ welfare and rights that participate in research (Institutional Review Board, 2020).

The difference between participant observation and unobtrusive observation

The difference between participant observation and unobtrusive observation is that the former requires the physical presence of the researcher for observation-based measures to be taken, whereas the latter does not necessarily require the researcher to make a physical presence in the research context.

What kind of observation do you think you’d prefer to do?

Participant observation would be the most preferred type of observation. This is because it enables the researcher to interact with all aspects of a research context, including emotions.

Achievements of Members of the Black Community

The members of the Black Community, commonly referred to as African Americans, are often associated with a painful history that has overshadowed significant milestones they have made. Arguably, the greatest achievement the community has made in modern history is the election of the first black president of the United States, Barrack Obama. Also, African Americans have made significant strides in sports. For instance, sports such as boxing, basketball, football, athletics, and hockey are all dominated by blacks. In the last few decades, the black community has also made significant steps in the political space of the U.S.
