Email me your working thesis claim so we can discuss it by no later than June 20.

Be sure to do the following:

1. In your first paragraph, overview your topic on health and / or the American diet in around four to seven sentences, and at the end of the paragraph, state your thesis claim.
2. In the body discussion, explain how your topic is valuable, problematic, or somewhere in between. You should use at least one of your assigned readings as a source. Each body paragraph should be from 4-8 sentences and include the following:
   1. An opening topic sentence that supports your thesis.
   2. At least two sentences that support the topic sentence with logic and evidence.

• Include a quote or paraphrase from your source(s) in the third or fourth sentence of each body paragraph, and be sure to vary quotes and paraphrases as you see fit.

1. A sculpted closing sentence of your own (not an outside source) that completes the thought of the paragraph.

1. Finish with a closing paragraph of 4-8 sentences that explains the significant ramifications of your discussion for current and future generations.

1. Use the MLA format precisely in citing your source, to include in-text citations and a works cited page. Note that if you use citation engines, you still need to cite your sources properly.

• Be sure to review all assigned readings to this point as listed on the syllabus, and send a working draft of your essay to the PPCC OWL for review before final submission.
