Reflecting on harnessing online Resources
The idea of normal teaching has evolved radically for the last number of years as class physical presence is not the only method of learning. Tremendous improvement and advancement in technology are one of the driving factors on the need for online classes. Taking an example of the effects of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, students from many parts of the world still have access to quality education from their point residences through their computers. Professor Henry Wakhungu explains online classes’ advantages over normal classes after having taught face-to-face and online classes.
According to Henry Wakhungu, the limited number of students participate in class during face-to-face sessions. Wakhungu asserts that only the active student ask a question for clarification and further explanation. Wakhungu’s concern remains on the average students, and their problem can be solved through the online classes. In online classes, many students participate in the learning process by asking questions to their lecturers through emails and calls; this is after students have done detailed research, and still, they are not conversant with the topic. According to Wakhungu, online students do a lot of research from various resources provided by their lecturers and tutors. According to Henry Wakhungu, online students’ questions are specifically focused on what is required by them as per the lesson.
There is need to propose the online learning program as it will eventually allow the success of both face-to-face and the online learning mechanism, online classes provide a situation whereby students can engage with a lot of reliable statistical problem-solving which allow current learning institutions to satisfy the need of growing online courses like the statistics course. Online students have the advantage of using many resources in their learning sessions, in Wakhungu’s view, online students listen to videos, read the textbook information, and context strand. Such detailed analysis will give the instructor and the professor that opportunity to understand those areas in which students find that challenging.
As much as face-to-face may look that effective, where students ask questions by getting in touch with lecturers, not all students ask questions during these classes. Many students go back home and do their homework after a short session of a face-to-face class, limiting their knowledge to only what is taught in class. The concern is raised to the average students who failed to engage their tutors during the class session. Bright students still perform without asking too many clarifications, using a lot of sources of learning materials, allows students to participate in continuous problem-solving so that they can appreciate the need of doing more research in the learning process, students have the chance to make contact with instructors so that they can get the concept being delivered.
In Wakhungu’s view, an online learning program provides a chance whereby lecturers and instructors can understand their students; students can well understand the course, deeper analysis of the learning resources, taking advantage of the internet for the progress I education. The online learning program will eventually facilitate face-to-face learning. A lot of resources available for the online classes motivates students to perform better in their learning life.
