Reflection about George Orwell

In this paper, I will reflect on George Orwell and his works, mostly the books “1984” and “animal farm” who was an English novelist, journalist, essayist, and critic. His work is characterized by biting social criticism, outspoken support of democratic socialism, lucid prose, and opposition to totalitarianism. Like Orwell, I am also generous to strangers and friends, but I am too pessimistic about myself and the future. Orwell had a personality of being generous to friends and strangers alike. Still, he was generally pessimistic about himself, his future, and his writings, and his chauvinism destroyed several friendships. In his book, “1984” had me convinced that such a society or world could exist.

As I read, I always imagine that the book’s story and saw it taking place right in my eyes, word afterword. I was so convinced that I had to do a little research to make sure that it was just fiction and could not possibly be true—such a question makes me question the existence of such a society I a good one definitely. Throughout my reading, I gingerly came up with my ending to the story based on the easy roundabouts of Julia and Winston. Although I was very surprised at the unexpected twist in the story at the end of the book. It confirmed that the blurb on the cover was in its entirety true. Throughout my readings, I was able to identify some similarities between America currently and what Orwell supposed that the year 1984 would be like. Some of Orwell’s suppositions seemed out of this globe at first glance, but over time it becomes easier to relate some of his ideas with America today.

The other book is “Animal farm” in this novel; the pigs become the men they initially set out to be nothing like. Furthermore, the message this novel conveys to me, a senior in high school, is to question the higher authority. Additionally, my position is mentioned in such a way due to the corrupt nature of the pigs rule the farm, moreover, in support of my view. This novel begins with the farm animals overthrowing their higher authority, who is the farmer. This way, the animals could ease their stressful lives, becoming more apt to a healthier environment and favorable working conditions. After the readings, I realized that no matter how much power we have, we must never lose sight of our original goals. After all, power itself can corrupt individuals. I am a supporter of many beliefs of Orwell that led him to write the novel.

I give George a rousing round of applause for his insight and wisdom. His writing on “why I write” is close to my heart and my identity as a novel lover. When I first read this essay years back, I did so with passing interest but not without passionate truth and excitement of discovering a kindred motive.  George gave some of the reasons why he picked up his pen to serve his writings addiction. The reasons that he gave reflect my suture desire, such as desired to be creative, to be remembered, desire to seem smart, and also to be talked about. His writings have made his desires to be true. I see his explanation of his reasons more as an appeal for understanding and a search for truth and meaning of life.
