Relationship between Environment, Disease and Animals
The environment is the surround where animals and human beings live, whereas disease is the ailment that affects animals due to various reasons. Animals get energy from the environment to support their process of life that involves movement, digestions, reproduction, growth and work (Olivry, DeBoer, Favrot, at el.,2015). The resources are scarce; thus, they limit the ability to have food or to normal activities that they carry out on a daily basis. Animals metabolic activities may reduce conservative energy until better conditions start prevailing. The environment support animals through provision of their food that is a scarce resource that should be provided to animals in all costs. The disease is the ailment that affects animals due to infections that may cause the body not to function normally. Therefore, the environment, disease and animals have a relationship, and they inter-join to one another when there are conditions that are basing the conditions.
For instance, sometimes in response to the environment animals tend to respond to stimuli, they can change in different environmental characteristics. Animals physiology makes changes so that they can accommodate the changes that are prevailing in the environment that they are in; this helps them to tolerate the range shifts. For instance, a sheep in cold climatic condition grows thicker coats so that they can help in the winter colds that is a normal climatic condition of the environment that it is living. Similarly, the digestive system of white-tailed deer has to adjust to the available food that it is likely to obtain during the summer and winter seasons.
Animals help in maintaining the earth’s natural environment through predating upon plants and other animals, some such as bees help in pollinating plants and exhaling carbon dioxide that helps plants in the photosynthesis process (Collins, Paul, Reimer, at el,.2015). Similarly, animals help in the fertilization of plants this is done through the droppings of animals that act as manure for plants, thus helping in making the soil to be fertile. Some animals help in the seed-dispersal that through this, they are helping plants to germinate in different places of the environment where they would not have reached by themselves. The dispersion of seeds will help the environment to have different types of plants with the same ecosystem that has helped have the germination of the plants that will have the help growth of their products.
Environmental changes can result in the development of diseases that will affect animals. When the environment gets so cold, and animals get exposed to pneumonia that may cause the death of animals. Through these changes of environment, they tend to interrelate to infection of to animal’s diseases that will lead to death if they are not attended to earlier. The environment has a big impact on animals since most of them have habitats that are exposed. Diseases that affect animals mainly come up when they are not well controlled, thus affected the animal’s survival and behaviour.
Environmental health policy is the interplay between the environment and health, and the environment can affect animal health. Policies are created by the government and organizations where they see the issue is arising in the health and the jurisdiction that is related to the environment. There are several environmental factors that contribute to health; they involve air quality, climatic changes, toxic water and chemical exposure. The environment caries many aspects that inter-relate animals when it is affected their end effect is imposed on animals, thus brings suffering from factors such as air pollution and water pollutions that affect animals directly.
Overpopulation of animals is another factor that affects the environment. A particular size of the environment has the capacity of the pollution they can accommodate; thus when the environment carries a population that it cannot accommodate the resources get depleted and the environment gets to lose value. Overpopulation of animals over a smalls place has an effect on soil erosion whereby animals eat all the vegetation leaving the land bare thus when it rains the water swipes off the topsoil that is rich for plants growth and animal habitat. Through this condition, the environment has an impact on the existence of the resources that need to be controlled and a good number of animals that would be supported by the ecosystem. When animals are many in a small area, they can facilitate in the spread of ticks which will result to anaemia in animals and the damage of the animal skin thus leading to losses in the business of animal skin in the market (Hill,2015). Additionally, when animals are kept in large numbers will lead to the production of a lot of excess carbon dioxide that will lead make the rise of temperature. High temperature has effects on animals where they suffer from heat stress and some respiratory diseases.
Environmental conditions such as warm tropical conditions provide suitable conditions for the breeding of parasites tsetse flies that cause disease such as trypanosomiasis that is common in animals (Seyedmousavi, Guillot, Arné, at el, 2015). In some places that are at the polar develop special characteristics such as big fur so that they can survive in the extreme conditions of the environment. Environmental adaptation of animals helps them to be protected from the occurrence of extremes that will make their survival to be hard in their habitats. Environmental changes during the continental drift that led to the camels evolving to llamas with different adaptive feature such development of fur which enable them to survive in cold conditions.
Disease such anthrax is severe to animals; this leads to death when they are not taken care of earlier enough; this leads decomposition that brings manure to the environment. When the environment is rich in manure, it helps in the growth of crops and plans that are habitats of insects and other animals such as rabbits. The happening of events results to the result of another event that is a positive addition to the other factor, thus showing the relationship that they have.
My observation in this relationships is that when an event happens results in another effect on another event. I observed that some of the events such as environment cut across all factors that depending on the action that has taken place. Set of policies has helped in the control of the effects of both environment and diseases that affect animals. I also observed that most policies that mainly animal policies have the control of diseases that are communicable without regarding the factors that are caused by the inter-relations that affect them. Diseases can be caused by a change of climate that will affect production in animals. Therefore, these themes have a relationship that is interconnected from the results of one happening.
