Research Proposal of the Effects of Leadership Style on the Achievement of Strategic Organization Goals

Introduction

Leadership is profoundly conceived as a process where an individual uses a particular charismatic trait to influence followers in a certain direction. As a strategy to evaluate the impact of leadership on strategic organizational goals, the researcher will evaluate how leadership behavior’s relationship serves as an impetus for pursuing strategic organizational goals. The specific research question that will guide the study will be, ‘Is there a profound relationship between the type of leadership with the attainment of organizational strategic goals? This research question is vital because it forms a cornerstone for examining the research topic’s independent and dependent variables. Moreover, it will help the readers understand the metrics involved in determining appropriate leadership styles that stimulate productivity.

Literature Review

According to Amirullah (2018), the transformational leadership style profoundly relates to overall organizational performance. This study investigated the organizational effectiveness of various IT firms in Karachi. Thus, in an organization that aspires to success should consider retaining and hiring transformational leaders.

A similar leadership study established that democratic leadership is most effective in stimulating organizational performance (Al-Khaled & Fenn, 2020). According to the researchers, employees tend to exhibit a remarkable attitude towards leaders that give them autonomy in the workplace.

According to Klein, Wallis, and Cooke (2013), leadership style may also influence the organizational culture. The findings of this research will strengthen the hypothesis that leadership style can positively or negatively influence the organizational culture.

Another study by Dolly and Nonyelum (2018) established that the autocratic leadership style limits organizational performance. In essence, it instills fear in the subordinates making them overlook aspects like communication with their leaders. It also discourages psychological growth and causes emotional stress to the workers undermining productivity.

Iqbal et al. (2015) further established that the participative leadership style encourages the employees to align their career goals with organizational leading to high productivity. The findings of this research will support the hypothesis that encouraging employee participation in the workplace can enhance productivity.

Additionally, Herrmann and Felfe (2012) affirmed that leadership style has a significant relationship with fostering creativity in the workplace. This phenomenon is significantly valid in technology-based firms where competition is the order of the day.

Methodology

The researcher will integrate mixed-research methods to identify literature and gather the relevant information that addresses the research questions. As a strategy to enhance the collected data’s validity and reliability, the researcher will also use focus groups and cohorts in a different organization where worker’s productivity can be quantified. Statistical information will be evaluated using a quantitative approach. Interviews will be integrated into collecting qualitative opinions from the respondents.

Analysis and Findings

The facilitator will utilize SPSS to analyze the data from primary sources and focus groups on evaluating the interviews’ results. For instance, as a strategy to justify the hypothesis that a significant relationship exists between the selected leadership style and organizational achievement, the researcher will evaluate the responses based on open and closed-ended questions. The researcher will further analyze the responses such as [stongly agree], [strongly disagree], [agree], [disagree].

Conclusions

Based on the primary and secondary sources’ findings, the facilitator will find in the literature review. The study will further conclude from meta-analyses from the cohorts. Thus, the most valid answer to the research question is likely to be that a profound relationship exists between leadership style with strategic goal achievement.

Indications for New Research

Future researchers should strive to investigate the correlation between the influence of employee’s attitudes on leadership style. This aspect is because of resistance and conflicts that may compel a leader to embrace a different mitigation technique that may not reflect their inherent values or styles.
