Researchable question
Response to student one (Jennifer)
The psychological dimension of Alzheimer’s disease is indeed a topic, but it is not that specific as the Jennifer puts it. Psychological dimension is extensive, which makes it not a researchable question due to a lack of clear understanding of what exactly should be analyzed. Also, a psychological dimension does not satisfy Repko & Szostak criteria for determining if a problem is researchable. According to Jennifer, it is true that “the loss of manufacturing jobs to China” is a statement which talks about the loss of jobs in a certain country. Hence it does not pose any question of research. Jenifer’s approach to “the effects of closing fine arts programs in public schools is correct since she outlines the two disciplines involved in constructing the research questions according to Repko & Szostak, which are fine arts and education.
Response to student two (Antony)
Repko & Szostak criteria for determining if a question is researchable are not brought out in psychological dimension of Alzheimer’s disease according to Antony, but he does not elaborate what lucks in the statement that makes it not a researchable question. Antony’s response to the loss of manufacturing jobs to China is correct since there is no question posed by the statement, which makes it not a researchable topic. According to Antony, the effect of closing fine arts programs in public schools is a researchable question. Antony does not elaborate on how the Repko & Szostak criteria have been portrayed in the statement to make it a good research question.
