Hi Ashley. I admire how well you have illustrated the “Crab-bucket Effect” phenomenon. Some of the elements that characterize this phenomenon indeed include greed, jealousy, obsession, and disrespect. People feel bad when they cannot have something. They feel even worse where they establish that others have managed to find them. I believe that an example of the phenomenon would be well-shown in a scenario where people fail to tell others about an offer they have heard about since they do not have the money to take advantage of the same offers. They act on the idea that, since they cannot have the said item, other people should also not access it. The practice is wrong and only contributes to adverse outcomes in terms of the interactions which people usually have with one another. People must be more considerate of others. The situation will enable them to be more willing to engage in practices that are highly essential and keen on showing that they value the position of those who are close to them.
Aydin and Oğuzhan (2019) show that people need to be more considerate of others. The situation will be essential in preventing them from falling victim to the “crabs in a bucket” phenomenon. Hard (2018) also argues that people need to apply proper leadership in their lives. The process will enable them to adopt the right procedures, which will be appropriate in improving the level of care which they show to others. Allison et al. (2019) further argue that people need to focus on engaging in activities that are important both to them and others. As a result, they will manage to be of significant value to society.
