I agree with the DSM-5 criteria that you used in diagnostic processes. Well done on the use of the criteria, and for choosing one of the most interesting movies I have watched in the recent past. The DSM-5 criteria used is widely used and often regarded as a “therapist’s bible.” It has been used for decades now to diagnose various mental disorders using codes that therapists can use to summarize complex conditions. Despite the numerous advantages, there has been a growing body of research that is considering the method to have numerous drawbacks, causing an increase in over-diagnosis. Do you concur with their findings that the method tends to oversimplify the human behavior leading to over-diagnosis or misdiagnosis? If that is the case, what can be done to improve future DSM or what other methods can be used to justify the diagnosis from DSM-5? Overall, the post is well written, with the alternative diagnosis well discussed, as well as the reasons for discrediting the diagnosis. I agree with the alternative diagnosis as well as the reasoning behind it. I am looking forward to reading more of your posts.
