The paper shows that there is a need for intense and comprehensive training to be incorporated in the psychological coursework. They reveal that leadership in psychology is one very essential attribute of the career that is often overlooked. Leadership training and experiences are crucial for people in long term careers because they influence the operation and interactions in the specific field of career. To these researchers, enhancing leadership in the psychological field is a sure way of strengthening competence as this will serve to improve the profession as a whole. Not only does leadership in this career path act as a professional mentoring, but it also helps students to develop leadership skills that are important in this field of study. According to these authors, to be effective in the field of psychology one has to  develop leadership qualities because of the nature of the career. Careers in psychology involve a lot more interactions between the psychologist and the clients. There is a great need to have leadership qualities that will offer students access to professional and administrative leadership experience. Additionally, the authors reveal that teaching leadership qualities to students will help them to operate with autonomy and with more predictability. This will also help them in making better and rational decisions while they practice what they have learnt in psychology. Leadership is seen to have come up as a result of necessity. This is because it proved to have more advantages in solving social coordination problems. In psychology, leadership is important because it offers the guidelines that are to be followed in the profession. This article relates to my research because it reveals the importance of teaching about leadership to students in the field of psychology. Additionally, through the article, we denote the essential role that leadership has in psychology and how the two interrelate. Also, the article shows how importance it is for students who aspire to be counselors to have learnt leadership qualities and the role that leadership plays is their career path.

Such theories help to show the role that leadership plays in counselling of psychology. The transformational theory especially reveals how important leadership can be in influencing change in leadership ultimately holds essential position in psychology especially in counselling.
