Roles of advanced nursing practices
The advanced practice nurses will be crucial in complementing the physicians in some of their roles. Throughout the world, the ratio of physicians to patients is too small; hence there is a need to have a new workforce supporting the few physicians. The advanced nurse have been critical in filling the shortage gap that has been brought by an increase in chronic diseases. This has been allowing physicians to concentrate on cases that require specialization. These nurses have enabled the delivery of emergency and critical care services more accessible (Woo,2017). The nurses have also made it possible for the cost-effective utilization of the health care workforce. They have eradicated the problem of having very few people overworked in hospitals (Kershaw,2011). This has been done by enhancing the capacity of nurses who had been limited to some fundamental roles. Advanced training of nurses has tapped nurses’ ability and given them the ability to provide more skilled care. The patients are, therefore, able to acquire better care from these nurses.
These nurses have reinstated the affordable care act by making it quicker for patients to get treatment. The patients are no longer required to go through a long process before seeing a doctor as the nurses have acted as a bridge(Baileff,2015). The patients are also able to enjoy a variety of other services such as assessment and counseling, which the physicians would not have offered entirely. The nurses have also made some of these medical services cheaper by making them more available. Services that could only be given by physicians are now readily available at the community level. Advanced nurses also have limited congestions in hospitals by avoiding unnecessary referrals and delays.
