Roles of Women in World Civilization

Gender roles and positions are as a result of the existing stereotypes and the male and female gender hold. The stereotypes have existed since and have created a need for equality and position of women and men. The evolution of the status and the position of the two genders have existed since time because of some factors. The factors surrounding the events are on the view of men and women. The history is dated back in different aspects which involve both the creation and evolution theories. In both the theories, the position of women in the society is thought as to be insignificant. With this women have not been allowed to play a major role based on different communities and cultures. Many of the cultures since the early days viewed women as a tool that was only used for procreation. The role of women was to give birth and taking care of household duties while male counterparts ran the world. It demeaned women living them in the house and not participating in major decision. Once given the opportunity to raise the male gender carried their beliefs from home and suppressed the women pride. With the time other with the influence of religion, politics and human rights activist the situation changed and women started to flourish by showcasing their roles in world civilization.

World civilization dates back in Mesopotamia where some innovation were made and religion kicked. The innovation included agriculture, medicine, geometry, accountancy and mathematics. The innovations were also presented in other parts of the world like Egypt, Mesoamerica, China and West Africa. At the point in time men dominated various areas in the pursuit of changing the daily activities of the world. With the events happening women still played roles of the house. The primary roles of women was giving birth and taking care of the children at home. However with time they started to go out to the fields to take food to the men who spent most of their times on the farms. With that women started to identify one or two things that their contribution would play a big role. It included giving advice and recommendation on how thing could be done with their counter parts. However they were not to participate in decision making and hence their advice was disregarded. With their presence in the fields women were given odd position such as carrying water and washing tools and equipment. They will be assisted by the children and this was as result of the belief that they were inferior and not fit for the innovations.

With the increased presence of women in the field they were now responsible for looking for food. Women will go around the bush to gather food that they will later cook for their male counterparts. It hence restricted them only to performing the duties that they were assigned to by the male. However with the men started to notice that the women could also do the work as they were the one who looked for food previously. It is this that started to change their attitude on the perception of women. Spending more time in the fields led to the wear and tear of the garments that were used. It lead to the innovation of weaving and sewing machines that could be used to replace and make clothes. With the view of the inferiority of women they were assigned the duties of being tailors which they perfected well. The women diverse in carrying out their duties and properly demanded for more women in the fields. It changed the norms that women will be treated as home manager as their worked well outside. The move presence of women was now being felt and this changed how they were viewed by the male counterparts.

Working in the fields with the different predisposing factors disease started to be common. The innovation of medicine was now at the helm and research was being carried out to deal with the issue. The innovation only put men at the center as at the time women were not allowed to make decision. However this varied in other place of the world such as Rome where women were being allowed in decision making. The innovation of medicine brought about the need of assistance from women. With the view that women were caring and took care of their children. They were allowed to take part in the move of trying to find medicine and cure for the people. However in the case they were give the role of being nurses and midwifes. They were only allowed to take part in caring for the sick and helping other women in giving birth. It is this that raised the position of women to play part in being nurses. The women could notice what the men who were doctors did. They learnt skills such as injection and were key in coming up with some innovations within the field. The stereotypes on the inferiority of women continued to be dealt with in the civilization process they however faced opposition.

With above innovations having taken place trade and commerce began to flourish. Men played the major role of transaction process. The women landed themselves other roles in the process of trade. The roles of women was to play part in the carrying of goods to get them to the market for the buyers. In the process women will be used to convince the buyers but payments made to men. In the process it was identified that women played a great role in helping push and propel sales. Women decision was now being heard and they were now involved in the process of buying and selling. It was noticed that they contributed much in helping the trade blossom. It was this that gave them role helping to market the product and also make transaction. Despite the influence felt on the involvement of women they were yet pushed in the secretary position. It was their role to only make deals for the trade. However in some places such as Babylon it changed the view of women. As women engaged themselves in prostitution as a tool of trade and this destroyed their reputation.

Religion played a key role in the life and times of civilization as it dictated the way of life. It affected almost all aspect of life which are social, political and economic life and behavior of people. Many religious beliefs had that men were the best and the overall in playing key part of the success of life. It is this that lowered the expectation of women in having the role and status in a community. Women were only given small position in which they were not allowed to demonstrate their abilities. During the time women played the roles of prophetess and priestess in the church. Such roles allowed them to perform duties such as guiding the congregation on how they should contact themselves. They were made to be assistants of their male counterparts in helping run sermons. Other duties that they carried in the church were making sure that it is clean and well arranged. During feasts and events they were allowed to take part in cooking and all logistic to the success. Women were also given the role of giving teaching to the children on the doctrine of the church and any other necessary education. Holding strong beliefs of the church women were to subdue to the men.

Education was one of the modern civilization that saw women getting more power and position. Education was made to help children to understand the different concept and phenomena’s. It was a decision that was made after women concentrated much in the field and hence there was moral decay of children. Schools were established were children could go and wait for their parents after work. With the loneliness it meant that the children were to be given counterparts. Women were selected from communities to and help their children run their daily activities. However with time there was need for there to be teachers who will teach geometry, science and commerce. The teachers were men who had mastered the art of phenomena that were created. With the presence of women in the schools they were able to learn basic concepts of the innovations that were made. It gave the women knowledge and skills of also teaching the children on the various subject. It is this that changed the role of women from caretakers to teachers. The view of the women as being inferior was being dealt with accordingly as their contribution was evident.

With the education having no limits women were now able to learn and understand different concepts in different fields. Education did not limit either male or female as they were given same opportunities. However it was not the concept throughout the world as other parts resisted education of women. It was evident mostly in West Africa and Egypt where only the male were allowed in schools. Education gave women opportunities to learn accountancy, geometry and science. However other places such as Rome and Mesopotamia women were only allowed in a few subjects. It include subjects such as religion, arts and linguist which were regarded as inferior. With the education qualification women were now allowed to key position that determine the decision made. Women were now full time teachers, managers, engineers and architects. The position so women giving more points and having position in the world that made them exercise decision making. With such in place women started being leadership position that they played well. Women were involved in planning and coordination of more innovation. It is this that allowed the women to get into leadership position in politics and economics of the world in civilization. The perception of women in the society began to change and they were now allowed to move motion and educate more women. The opposition was though felt by some of the men who believed women were inferior.

Role and position of women in the world civilization was significant though faced a number challenges. The role of women was mainly influenced by the world believes about the women being inferior and incompetent. Since the ancient civilization women were regarded as inferior and they only played house manager roles. Women were staged this based on their sexuality and believe that they were only present to give birth and taking care of the children. They were to teach their children of the history of their communities and make them undesratnd their position. However with the new innovation they were supposed to get to the fields and give a helping hand to their husbands. Despite the fact they were only allowed in gathering food and cooking. With time though they moved to the role of being tailors and making places of work clean. The innovation continued but they still were involved in small tasks such as nursing and midwifery. With the evolution of trade women moved to secretary jobs prostitution as a way of earing. The coming of education and religion changed the women position as they participated in giving education. With the growth of formal education they were able to learn and hence given position that they were decision makers. Women got to the light and pushed for more innovation and technologies in modern technology. The roles of women during civilization were cooking, tailoring, nursing, midwifery, secretary, teachers, doctors and engineers. Women moved forward to play roles in the political, legal and leadership position.
