The most imaginative minds are those of children and fascinations as well as interests develop at a tender age. I remember my most cherished moments when I was young was watching women in a computer lab surrounded by men getting all technical in the computers, trying to solve problems and typing very fast on their keyboards. Those nights when I went to bed, I would fantasize for long hours imagining myself as part of those women typing hard on the computers and being part of solving computer problems. As I grew up I realized that the women did not just type on the computers but were performing a series of commands and program installations. From then on, developing interest in information technology was not a nerdy pursuit but a life career inspiration.
I chose to pursue an undergraduate degree in IT because for one it is a childhood dream and a career choice that I feel best suited to. What most intrigues me about information technology is that there are so many opportunities in this field and so much to explore. From configuring computer systems and networks, installing and developing software as well as developing systems that make running our services easier are all tasks I would imagine myself getting obsessed over. Without a doubt, there is also the opportunity to develop new technologies and innovations. This is very essential to me as I believe in the limitless efforts of the mind and the ability to develop and innovate new entities every day. I am a fast learner and this makes it all worthwhile to be in an innovative field.
Majorly, this degree will help me become an expert in a field. The field of data security and virus protection is a career aspiration that I would be honored to fulfil. I also look forward to educating myself more and become more motivated to do my job. I will also be looking forward to gaining more autonomy in my work and this degree will help me understand more on computers. Additionally, I also seek to inspire more women and also encourage them to venture into the field of computers by setting an example as one. Women need to realize that there is no limit to what they can achieve.
Integrity, service and growth are core values that I hope to exemplify adequately. Achieving integrity means that I will have to be open and honest within all my jurisdictions. Delivering on my promises will ensure that I maintain a solid reputation as well as keeping my commitments. Respecting others will also help me maintain integrity. Showing service means that I will have to understand the needs of others, practice consistency and patience in my duties and also show my professional ethics to others. Finally, establishing growth means that I will have to be inquisitive, faster to learn and also invite bigger platforms for new ideas.
With this scholarship, I will be sure to ignite the flames of hard work, excellence and quality in my studies. I believe that success is triumphing over turmoil and I am ready to put all the effort needed of me to ensure that by the end of the degree I have achieved to the best of my capability.
